Late in the season, who's the odd man out (Sap-Al)

Same questions, opinions may have changed (doubt it). I'm still a huge fan of Al's, I don't think Millsap works as well with the young guys and I don't like a front court of Jefferson-Sap. Basically, who do you think the Jazz won't keep moving forward.

I wish it was Al, simply because the production you get out of Sap compared to his contract is fabulous, and the team could use the extra 6 mil from Als contract to snag some extra talent.

Unfortunately, I think that Als contract is very unappealing to most of the league, and we will give up a lot just to move him. I don't want to take back a crappy contract just to let the young guys play.

Al averages 19 and 9 on a $14 million dollar contract that will be expiring. His value will only be low because of that - plenty of teams would give a decent outlay for Jefferson.

Right, and Sap makes 6 mil less and only scores 3 points less a game. If you think we can't make up for more than those 3 points with 6 mil worth of contract somewhere else, then you are right. Otherwise, Sap is widely known as having one of the best contracts in the league, and is a very valued asset. Al is still known as a black hole that has never won anything. He is slowly debunking that label, but I think there are not plenty of teams that would take on his contract right now. Maybe they will be more willing next year since he will be expiring, but I bet KOC didn't have many takers this year at the trade deadline.

Also, if you want Favors to take over and develop on the offensive end more, Al has GOT to go.

I like Al, but he has been a huge disappointment lately. THe last two games were crucial and Al did not show up to win, just to score.

I really wish the answer to this question were Al, but it's probably Sap. I think Sap's a better player and a better fit next to our young guys (well, basically I just think he's a better fit on any winning basketball team), but he probably has a lot more trade value, both because other teams probably value him more than Al (at least, they should) and because his contract is much more reasonable.

With the way Al's played this season, he might have some trade value, but he definitely doesn't have as much as Sap. So, while moving Al would be the ideal scenario in my eyes, moving Sap seems like a more viable option. In any case, I really hope one of them's gone by next year. I don't want to deal with another year of Favors and Kanter getting a combined 30 minutes a game behind a productive, but fundamentally flawed duo.

I still think you keep Al and move Sap because Al is able to play PF & C...he is also a better scorer and rebounder than Sap and until Kanter and/or Favors is consistently able to carry the team's offensive Al's scoring would be nice to have

If we're going to keep Sap he has to be willing to come off the bench.

I think we've all seen what happens to him after six or so weeks of playing starters minutes. He breaks down.

Big Al, though, seems like the odd man out. He's a very unique player. He's not the greatest guy when it comes to team basketball, and that's just what Utah does-- play team Basketball.

I wish the best for both players. Both are great people who deserve only the best. But I think Big Al lifts out easier than Paul.

I agree, because Sap is playing against bigger and stronger guys he seems to break down towards the end of the season due to his heavy minutes. I think Sap would be best utilized as a 6th man the way the Lakers used Odom.

I think the Jazz stay put with the frontcourt unless a great trade comes their way. I see Favors starting and Sap moves to 6th man.

big al. He's a skilled 6-10, still young, and expiring, so he has the bigger value. Before the next season, or around the all all star game, he can be traded for some assets, and leave playing time for both kanter and favors

For jazz fans sanity they need to get rid of al jefferson. reason this guy never won since he left boston. kg punked him because he knew he could and he just stood there and took it.his legacy is as the guy that black hole'd his way into putting up #'s on bad teams. a mentally weak player that got taken advantage of by guys like kg.
