jivelikenice wrote:Wall took off when Randy took over. He is in a re-adjustment with more of an emphasis to get the ball to the post, coupled with a shooting slump. That doesn't mean he can't thrice in this system like has was earlier this year.

Its adjustments. He seemed to get better as the game went on....He was more decisive with his passes because he's beginning to learn the guys he's playing with now. He must have been doing something right to have the best +/- out of the starting 5 and was absolutely dominant defensively

Plus/Minus means more when you have viable back ups. Its more impressive when a bench players have a high plus/minus. Martin was plus 20. KS was plus 19. Ves was plus 16

Of the starters. Booker played 6 minutes. That doesnt count. Nene was backed up by KS who was killing it. Singleton was a starter which isnt saying much. So Wall having the best of the starters means a little less then what Martin, KS and Ves did.

Wittman is not a winning GC. NO! To him being HC after the season

Though he has done a good job but to get the wiz on the next level, we need a next level talent

He is quickly becoming the team leader. I don't know what happen in Denver but I welcome him here.

Happily obliging, too.

Nene has been much better for Washington than he was earlier this season. His attitude and his play have exceeding my expectations. Still, the bottom line is how long can he keep this up and remain healthy.

Seraphin has been this good and just needed to play. What is great is seeing Nene with Seraphin--something I never thought about when the trade went down. Most of my posts assumed Wittman would sit Kevin and play Booker with Nene. It has been very refreshing to see the Wizards play two BIG men, finally.

hands, where I will eat crow for sure is the team is MUCH better. I didn't see this coming at all. Also, it is pretty realistic that free agents around the league will now take the Wizards more seriously with Nene on the team and the team improved.

He has been playing strong and stronger as the year has gone on.

He is gaining confident and strength. I am not worried about Ves at all. Give him a summer to work on everything and we will have a much better player next year.

I mostly agree. I also noticed tonight how much stronger he looks - his arms and shoulders appear to have a lot more definition. I'm not sure if just this summer will be enough, but I see a Seraphin-like trajectory for him, probably taking a bit longer. If he really is a gym rat, I can see him spending the summer working on his shooting technique and coming back significantly improved. I usually like his instincts out there - his head is always on a swivel on defense, and he hustles all the time. We need to remember that even though he spent several years in a Euro-team system, he is still a kid who needs to learn the NBA game. Maybe I'm over-optimistic (I usually am), but I have a good feeling about him. He is no Pech.

Philly needs front court help, I don't know why they traded Speights, he is doing fine in Memphis.

“Our bench played great,” said staring point guard John Wall, who had nine points, six assists, six rebounds and three blocks. “They did a great job, especially Kevin, Cartier, Mase. All those guys played great, even Jan. That’s what really helps us when we get leads.”

Ouch!!

Did you see that offensive rebound Jan was fighting for last night he tipped up to Nene? He looked right at Nene to tip it over to him in such a way as to provide an easy follow-slam, but Nene was a half-second off in anticipating it and it didn't pan out. That time it didn't work, but next time and in practice, you can be sure Nene is going to be paying more attention when Vesely's around. Those are the sort of instincts that we've been lacking for years.

To me, Jan's best quality is he always seems to know where the rest of the players are on the court.

If he were on an efficient half court team like the Spurs, he'd be showing up in the stat sheet (and highlight reel) a lot more if for no other reason than his ability to both handle (as in receive a quick pass) and distribute the ball to others.

Aside from not having developed skills, he seems to already know *how* to play basketball (and yes, this should be considered a given for a professional player we have had numerous examples that show otherwise, but I digress).

Whether that's worth the 6th overall pick is pretty much a resounding 'NO' - but if he grows into his body a bit more and starts hitting some 15ft jumpers with consistency, his draft placement may not be so bad when revisited in a couple years.

causypooh, good observation, welcome home again, post more.

I too liked the energy and flavor Jan brought to this contest. He's been showing improvement over time. Nene's reliable range at the 4/5 gives room for Jan's energy game to work since the opposing big needs to follow the Brazilian out of the paint. I'm curious to see how Jan works out if Booker needs to miss a few minutes or games with whatever tweaked him this game.

Missed the 1st quarter, what happened to Book?

He tried to plant for a jump, then winced in pain and then hobbled off. They said it was the same problem he has been having, plantar fascitis.

If he continues to have injury problems we may be better served trying to acquire Robinson over MKG in the draft if we dont land the number 1 pick. I didn't think Booker was injury prone in college, hopefully this is just a random thing.

Sounds like the plantar facitis tank virus is spreading at the Phone Booth.

Yeah, game four really stands out (13 points on 4-11 FGs, 7 assists, 9 turnovers). He really fell off a cliff after that.

Game 1 v. Dwight Howard's Magic was golden as well.
