Torsten Frings Injury Update

Toronto FC announced Tuesday that Captain Torsten Frings sustained a strain to his right hamstring during the first half of Saturday’s game in Seattle. The midfielder is expected to be out of Toronto FC's lineup for four to six weeks.

Head coach & technical director Aron Winter will be available to speak to the media following Tuesday's training session. Toronto FC TV will be on hand at training on Tuesday.

What a horrible way to start the MLS season...

Disappointing game today against San Jose, I feel all 3 of those goals were weak goals. Why is defense a problem for all Toronto teams? We keep mixing and matching and yet the result seems to be the same, we need better defense.

Yeah I didn't see enough of the game to get a true impression, but the TFC back end was not nearly as solid as they will need to be in the few minutes I witnessed.

Yea, during all those goals, the defenders were out of position and simply left our goalie wide left on by himself. I dont blame the Goalie at all for not managing to stop them, he shouldnt have been in that position. San Jose however packed it in when they were defending and TFC couldnt get any good shot off. The difference of defense between the two teams was evident, for this game.

Toronto FC playing in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship/CONCACAF and then in MLS is like night and day. They seem like they could hang with any team and look confident one time, but then in an MLS game they look shaky and awkward.

TFC looks like they are going to look even worse than their first year... this is comically bad... and im crying.

I really hope they don't get trigger happy and let Winter go...

Another new coach is not the answer. I like Winter's system and I think he can build a winner here. I don't want to start from scratch again although it feels like we are already doing that.

De Rosario a hometown guy who wanted to play here, but later wanted out. And it was mostly due to the Organization being a complete mess, 6 Coaches in 5 Years can do that. They need stability somewhere and a clear direction. Winter might be that guy, but damn the team cant score for beans, and it looks really bad for him already. I can only count on Frei to be steady game in and game out, the rest is a complete toss up.

TFC manager says team will still make playoffs

That's the theme of Toronto FC as it tries to avoid tying a league-worst seventh loss to start the MLS season.

A smiling Aron Winter insists the 0-6-0 team can still turn things around. And the Toronto manager says his club will still make the playoffs.

But it won't get any easier Saturday against Real Salt Lake, which at 5-3-0 has 15 more points than Toronto.

Winter's team has matched the 2001 D.C. United team for the second-worst start in league history.

The worst start belongs to the Kansas City Wizards, who started 0-7-0 in 1999.

I don't know about the playoffs, but it's good to hear they will still be fighting.

I almost forgot what winning felt like.

That early goal really set the tone for the game, and being down a man I'm really proud that TFC pulled out the win.

On to the finals once again to likely face Vancouver.

I have got to say well done to FC Edmonton for scoring their first goal in the tournament.

For a young team they gave Vancouver some trouble in the first half.
