Who would you replace Spo with?

I'm tired of the scapegoating. If you think we need to replace Spo, go ahead and list the candidates you'd like to consider.

I want the critics to expose their lack of basketball sense by revealing the inferior alternatives they think will do a better job than Spo.

There's only 1 rule: Pat Riley and Phil Jackson aren't walking through that door. Everyone else is acceptable to list.

Luckily we have 2 of th top 5 players in the league and 3 of the top 20. We are so much more talented we will win games.

But I know for sure this team will never win a title with Spo coaching. Any team with even near talent level will beat us because out coach is such a joke.

Why not put yourself out there and propose an actual name, instead of just slinging arrows at the guy? That's the problem I have. The fanbase is just slinging mud without proposing a superior alternative.

Here's the truth...there is no superior alternative. Spo is the best option we have, and he's honestly one of the best coaches in the league. I've said it a million times, but I'd only swap him for Popovich, and I only rate Karl and maybe Doug Collins ahead of him. We're lucky to not have a coaching debacle like some of these other teams. Sucks Doc Rivers won't be a free, I'd take him. I want our players to take the identity of their coach. Teams who do that, play well. EVERYONE has to be on the same page. I know Rondo has something to do with Boston more than Doc, but if we were against the Boston Celtics of 2008 last year, we would have been knocked out.

This whole "saving legs for playoffs", yeah well Spo played LeBron 40 mins or so against OKC and Indy in blowouts (with a broken finger), so obviously Spo doesn't care about that whole saving legs crap. Even against Detroit I believe it was.

Sloan is old and...wait...did you guys even follow the demise of the Jazz since Malone and Stockton retired? I can't understand why you would ignore that when our current coach has done more in that time frame (Spo inherited a terrible team).

JVG was never able to get it done in Gotham, and was replaced by Mike Dunleavy, of all people. He's my man 100 grand on the announcer's mic, but JVG is only looking good because the pool of candidates was looking so bad. Mark Jackson was a hot coaching prospect last season...nuff said.

Spo isn't telling the guys to save legs. Spo wants them to play every game like it was their last. However, it's clear the energy is low, and it's of the guys own accord.

Spo-isms don't exist in a vacuum. "The energy bus" was a mantra of his for this specific reason. Again, I harken back to last season, because Spo was anticipating all this stuff then. The rope is about guys trusting in one another and rotating as they did. JVG was right, they let go of the rope today. The energy bus was all about the focus and intensity shown. Today, we missed the energy bus.

When I say we're saving legs and coasting, it's just the obvious conclusion based on the focus shown now and earlier in the season. The personnel and staff hasn't changed enough for that. So, there must be another cause. PEACE.

I'll copy and paste my post from the game thread to remind people of how Spo outcoached two popular coached in Thibs and Doc last Summer.

Chicago owned us in Game1 because they are longer and deeper than we are. Coach of the year Thibs was outcoached when Spo got our ragtag team to outrebound the best-rebounding team in the league. He outcoached him when he threw a SF on the league-MVP and shut his whole offense down. You don't give our guy enough credit.

Spo outcoached Doc by marginalizing Boston's shooting advantage. They had a good perimeter-shooting team and we contained them inside and out. Spo removed KG from the series by adjusting the defense to double KG in key moments and spots. He had our guys push the pace to wear out Boston's tired legs. You don't think Spo went into that series with a plan? By the end of Game5, we had broken Boston's will, and it was just a great gameplan by Spo.

Against the Sixers, Spo's slow adjustments cost us early in games. Z and Bibby should never have played, but I assume there was some agreement made with Bibby to let him start. Otherwise, I don't see why Spo didn't bench him the same time he did Z. Z sat and Bibby was still starting. Doug Collins is a good coach, and extracted as much as he could from his personnel. We certainly outtalented them, but Spo made some good second-half adjustments in that series to help us win. We trailed big in 3 or 4 of those games, so it wasn't a matter of us just clobbering them. We had to comeback.

Against the Mavs, I fault him for not having us ready to face their zone. Then again, no one else in the league had an answer for it. I think is Lebron just does what he has to in that series, we don't even have to talk about Spo getting outcoached. But it is what it is.

You're not giving our guy enough credit. Spo is our guy, whether you guys like it or not. However, talent doesn't win on its own. Look at the Knicks. Look at the Lakers. Spo is doing right by this team, but some of the fans can't do right by him. I find it pathetic. PEACE.

What is this big deal about changing our coach anyways? i mean our own players surely have mouths that they can open and express their thoughts.

We have high Iq players on this team, Battier has been a great defensive player, James is, Wade is.

If they feel that the overhelping and collapsing on defense is not working they surely must have brought it up, no?

I cant imagine the players losing another year of possibly winning the championship if they feel that the defensive system isnt working?

So what is really the problem? The overhedging on P&R which is what is most used when a team runs the offense on must be pretty high up on that list of problems..

Sloan fell with Stockton and Malone because Michael Jordan was like F YOU ALL while winning 6 rings in the 90's.

Phil Jackson lost with 90 mil roster last year and got swept, does he suck?

coaches have bad fall outs, even Pat Riley (he didn't win all the time despite getting to the Finals A LOT) but there's a difference between having a coach who actually played the game at the NBA level and does not take **** from players, and a coach who doesn't know how to handle this team's ego's and get them on the right track.

The team determines when they get on the right track, not Spo, which shouldn't be. It should be both, but this team is flirting with danger if they don't get off their asses now. As I've said I personally haven't hit the panic button, but I have never seen them play like this, including last year. This whole demeanor of "WE ALREADY WON *cue music*" without actually winning anything (LIKE LAST YEAR), isn't going to get the team anywhere. I'll wait til the playoffs, but they better becareful. If we don't get passed Chicago heads will roll.

Thibs is also a good coach because his players bought into his identity and they play for him. But his offense isn't good. In fact it might be worse than Spo. I wish we had a 3 point shooter running around screens though... ATLEAST. I might be one of the people who wouldn't want Thibs as a coach He makes Spo overplaying LeBron look like childs play with what he does with a healthy Deng.

This is the best part of the cries for Riley. The only two players remaining from the only championship won for this team, by legendary coach Pat Riley, don't want him coaching. They don't. I'm sure they have all the respect in the world for him, but they don't want him coaching. What does that tell you? PEACE.

Ill honestly take anyone. It's just so frustrating seeing this coach never get better.He's not even as good as sorry ass Mike Brown imo. They are both just average coaches defensively but at least Brown has a set of balls and will bench guys if they mess around too much.

Spo is a terrible motivator, terrible in-game coach, terrible strategist, terrible play caller, terrible offensive coach, cant install an offense, and can't make adjustments.

Give me ANY coach with some experience and we'd be better off. Hopefully after we lose out on the title again this year Riley will finally fire him.
