With their usual starting center and power forward both out with pulled plantar fascias, the Wizards fielded their youngest starting lineup in franchise history — two rookies and three second-year players — as replacements Jan Vesely and Kevin Seraphin and regular starters John Wall, Jordan Crawford and Chris Singleton took to the court.
And they were in it at the end of the game. Not bad for a road game.

A key aspect of developping a positive dynamic for the team and for Wall, is going to be defensive intensity. Defense is an effort and organisation thing. Even when your shots aren't falling, if your bust your ass off, the defense will be good. Even when Wall shoots 2/14, if the team works as a whole on defense, it will result in low scores.
This defensive intensity must be the cornerstone on which the team builds its identity and pride. Bring on the defense night in and night out will mean that players will always be able to take something positive from the game, means that they can than progressively make the offense better, without feeling that they just can't do anything write. It will help keep the spirits up.
Keep that defensive intensity going, work on your offensive sets, and the team will progressively get better. Wall has to realise that and take pride in defense, make it his n°1 priority, because it will be something he can always count on, even on bad nights.

All around good game.
Singleton, Vesely, and Seraphin all in double figures.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Wiz badly out-rebounded again, I hope our next GM finds us a guy who can rebound.

Yeah. If they only had more players like Nene and Booker.

Wow. EG must really suck at drafting players.

Well if he doesnt work out here, he can always go into Peanut sales. We got plenty of Plantars.
But seriously, I'm not sure why so many are in a rush to ship EG out the door. Since Abe passed, he has done a good job of rebuilding the team and while doing so, placing them in prime tank in a short season so they can get one more high pick. He left SF void except for Singleton who got lots of experience. He didnt add enough scoring to make them to good to tank. Sounds like a good strategy and he executed it well. They are just coming together after the last trade with only 15 games to go so the tank is pretty secure.
They started McGee all year to showcase him for a trade. Same with Nick. Now both are gone and we have Nene who is in a completely different class compared to McGee. The team is way smarter now. They still need to find a quality starter SG and SF but Rome wasn't build in a day and they still have cap and other assets to work with. I just two year, he has rebuilt the team, cleared out the bums and cleared the cap. And we have a top pick on the way.

The Wizards had a series of defensive breakdowns in the second half, when the Raptors were able to extended a five-point lead to 15 in about five minutes, with Alan Anderson, a reserve on a 10-day contract, doing a lot of the damage.
I was wondering who this guy was.

closg00, I liked Anderson when he was at Michigan St. He's bounced around the league, D-League, and even Europe. He's the kind of player who belongs on a roster and like Danny Green, just needs to stay in one place long enough to stick. Anderson's game is a lot like Roger Mason's. Not much of an athlete, but you can't leave him open. He also can defend and is a good passer.
He's also a very high-character guy, again similar to RMJr.

Thanks CCJ, I have not been able to keep-up with all of the guys who have been called-up recently, there was a flurry of call-up activty. I didn't know that Lester Hudson was back in the NBDL.
For these bench-player call-up roles, a lot of it is sometimes good luck and timing - Martin and Green being good examples. A lot of these guys bounce around and get valuable experience overseas, and can contribute sooner than a young rookie 2nd rounder.
