Mike Brown explains why he won't play Goudelock

Post#1 » by chubby_1_kenobi » Tue Apr 3, 2012 2:02 am

Goudelock's production when given 20+ minutes/game

10.3 ppg with 50% FG

Mike Brown's reasoning on why he prefers Steve Blake over Goudelock
Mike Brown on why Andrew Goudelock is not getting minutes:

"For a young guy he was doing a terrific job for where he was, or what we asked of him. But having said that, he did not create a ton of shots for himself nor for his teammates. It wasn't like he was getting 14 or 15 points or double figure points off the bench, and so I don't think it's as big a deal or as big a difference when you're looking at production, point-wise, that he was giving us on a night in night out basis."

Mike Brown's quote earlier this year when Steve Blake was injured (surprised at Goudelock playing so well):
"The reality of it is I was close to cutting him at one point earlier in the year," Brown said recently. "Who would have thunk that he would have been my backup point guard and played well for us when he got thrown into the fire?"

I could never say that about KG. Even though he is a great player. In some way even in his prime he is Joakim Noah with a jump shot and a little better post game. Outside of that they have the exact same skill set.

Metta World Peace and Mike Brown appear at odds

"His background is video coordinator or whatever. So he's all stats," World Peace told CBSsports.com. "But Ron Artest is all feel. [Brown] doesn't understand that. Having me in the game at the end, he was worried about me shooting bad from the free-throw line. And I was like, 'I could care less because I'm gonna get a stop [defensively] at the end of the game.'"

He is a stat guy, just not a very good one.

“If I were him, I’d be frustrated, too,” Brown said. “I told him: `I don’t take anything personally. I’m OK with it. But if was a stats guy, Metta, you wouldn’t be playing at all. I mean, look at your stats. And Synergy says you’re the 192nd-best defensive player in the league. So if I was just a stats guy, the guy who should be playing at the small forward spot is Devin Ebanks — because he’s shooting better than you or Matt (Barnes).”’

Can't really blame Artest for being confused with Mike Brown
Check out Mike Brown's latest victim, Ramon Sessions:
Just 10 days prior, it was reported by ESPN's Dave McMenamin that Session approached Mike Brown because he was unsure of his role during the loss in Houston.

Mike Brown: "He (Sessions) said after the game to me, ‘You know coach, going down the stretch, I didn’t have a great feel for what you wanted to do offensively.’"

Just like with Moore in Boston, Goudelock probably stole Mike Brown's leftovers or something
now they're both in the doghouse

He probably thinks if Phil Jackson could say something like that, he can as well.

I don't know what kind of coach would not aggressively be looking for anyone to fill Steve Blake's minutes.

What's wrong with what he said? I think he's right, Goudelock doesn't bring enough on offense to make up for his defense.

He wants a rookie taken with late second round pick to create for himself, for teammates and score 14-15 points every game before he is willing to play him over Steve Blake.

Nothing wrong with that? Really? What drugs you and Mike Brown are sharing coz it's some potent stuff.

So he brings in an older, even worse defender in Steve Blake (who provides even less of an offensive punch BTW) to anchor the D?
In reference to a Picture of Billy Hunter...
