That was a nice block at the end by MKG, but it doesn't take away the fact that he was practically a non-factor in the championship game tonight. I thought he played well in the first half on both ends of the floor, though disappeared for much of the second half save for that block. I mean, when MKG isn't bringing it on the defensive end what else does he do? And developing his offense isn't exactly easy either. I like him a prospect, but not to the degree where some people overhype him.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Let's hope this does not repeat itself next year... come on Shabazz and Nerlens, DO NOT team up for PayPal Cal.

No doubt a solid effort from TRob (17 rebounds!!!) but the 6-17 is worrying. UK defense was fantastic.

He played against a guy some dub as the next Bill Russell, and was two makes from being over .500 (8/15) and possibly beating a historically great Kentucky team.

Still worried after that context?

As I said earlier... does UK have a Dwayne Casey as an assistant coach. Casey (The Raptors Coach) was caught delivering cash to players in the late 80's.

likely much worse.

Terrence Jones committed to Washington but was still pursued by Cal (Huge nono in ncaa).
Teague was supposed to go to Louisville until Kentucky came out of nowhere after his brother signed an above market deal with Nike.
Teague, Davis, Jones, MKG haven't been to class since December.

Don't worry UK will have the best APR in the SEC again according to Cal.

In theory the APR is good. Problem is when a team commits gross academic fraud to get around it.

Calling a guy who shared defensive duties against the other team's best player, and going 4/7 with some timely blocks in a slow paced college game is hardly being a non-factor. That said, it would be very easy for a GM to justify not taking him in the top 5. Not saying it is the right move, but that's the optics. Still think it's a matter of him being either too selfish for his own good or having a mental block that he covers up really well. Remember: he's 18.

After seing the results with Davis, I think the key to all of this would be securing Noel.

Offence can be shut down. The impact Davis had was absolutely incredible.

I agree on an offensive level that MKG tends to let others take over and I just think he doesn't have a killer instinct on offense.

Couldn't agree more, I don't see an All-Star player there. If he was as good as he's being touted than I feel he should be able to dominate more often.

I hope he proves me wrong but I wouldn't pick him over Robinson, Beal, Drummond or Barnes. I think he goes 5-6 in the draft.

If Noel joins the cats, he's going to get immense pressure and expectation, I heard the kid has attitude issue, this will not fair him well.

Noel basically dictates which of Syracuse or UK will be in the top five next year,

No, but that just shows you how safe a pick he is. He's an automatic double double and if he improves, it'll be as a passer, leader and on the defensive end.

By far best risk-reward player available in the draft after Davis.

yup. Davis was such a level headed, cerebral player. Truly special. Although Noel might have better physical gifts, he IMO isn't anywhere near the same player as him. He also needs to gain a ton of weight. I view him as a slightly better Andre Drummond to be honest, not some amazing superstar.

They should take all the money they can get. What if they suffer a career ending injuring, then what. The NCAA makes billions and college guys with no intention of pursing a education get squat.
