Not bad for an 18 year old. Wait till he develops a bit.

We dont expect him to be the franchise.. but a force to upgrade our D.. we definitely need more pieces. Even DeMar, Bargs and Big V are not good enough.. If we somehow add Nash and MKG.. we ARE in the conversation again

I think worst duo with Jonas would be Drummond.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Stay away from Drummond. I know hes intriguing and I said it myself, but hes closer to a bust than next big thing at this point. I know he is very young and raw, but for a guy that size, you expect him to show at least some dominance in the paint.

I am not gonna get my hopes up for Val though he has impressed me a lot i just hope this board doesnt break down and start rioting for a trade when he struggles remember he is a long term project he will need a couple of years to finally become a dominant centre. The moment he has a couple of bad games the average fan is just going to label him as a soft euro...

These boards and Raps fans everywhere will destroy him if he doesn't produce results instantly. We are really desperate for winning basketball. I still think tanking one more year after this will be beneficial, as painful as it may sound.

Getting more young propects takes more time for them to develop you cant just get a bunch of young guys and say go get me a championship that is VERY rare OKC is the only example i can think of but if you have winning mentality now then the young prospects you got previously will have more incentive to stay... cause tanking leads to more tanking and its an on going process until they finally develop and leave to south beach...

I dunno but I heard an interview from BC i think and he mentioned that next year is the year we aim for the playoffs.. This offseason is crucial for BC's career a lot of cap and top 7 pick lets see what he does with it..

I drool at the thought of a Val/Davis front court. No one would score in the paint, we would have the most dominant defensive front court for years and years.

If we do end up drafting a player like T-Rob or Davis, the best move afterward would be to somehow trade Bargnani for one of the swingmen in this draft.

If I'm BC, I'm calling every win-now team that has a lotto pick (ie. Milwaukee, Utah, etc) so I can get me a Jeremy Lamb as well.

Imagine coming out of this draft with one of T-Rob or Davis, AND one of the swingmen (Lamb, Barnes, Beal, etc).

:o

C. Valanciunas/ Amir Johnson
PF. T-Rob/ Ed Davis
SF. James Johnson/ Linas Kleiza
SG. Beal/ Derozan
PG. Calderon/ Bayless

Is that good? :/

Yes it is.

Maybe not instant greatness, but a great core for the future. Couple in the fact that we have some young role player assets, a ton of cap space, and the fact we owe nobody any of our future picks, and we suddenly have a lot of assets to make a move for that final piece.

C: Jonas
PF: T-Rob
SF: DeRozan
SG: Beal
PG: Bayless

Bench: Ed, Amir, JJ, Linas
Amnesty: Calderon
Free Agent: TBD

If we could get Davis and a big if !
I would try and package JJ, Ed & 2012 2nd to get Barnes .
To get MKG would do the same but take back 2012 2nd and add 2013 1st top 5 protected.

SG: Derozan / Forbes
PG: Jose / Dragic and second round rookie.

Was it true that before the draft, the spurs were working extremely hard trying to land Jonas? I mean looking at the Spurs draft record, they always seem to come out with draft day steals so it has to be a positive that the spurs were after him, no?

Wasn't there a rumour that they offered Tony Parker?

yes, they were offering Tony, and it has sense since Spurs have to build around young players.. consider Duncan will retire soon and Emanuel Flopobili and Tony Parker are getting old.. i wouldnt be surprised if they start to tank in 2 years

Yes it's true.

The Spurs are attempting to move up into the lottery by trading Tony Parker. If they are successful and complete a trade with the Kings, for example, they would select Jonas Valanciunas with the seventh overall pick, according to a report from Draft Express.

They're probably one of the best teams at developing talent and if they were willing to trade Parker they must have had a lot of faith in him.
