Bendy

Honest to goodness, I have heard of bearclaws. Without googling the word (to be true to the spirit of your question), I believe it is some kind of unhealthy treat filled with "high glycemic carbs", saturated fat & trans fat - risk factors for Diabetes Mellitus, cardiac disease, & neurovascular disease like stroke.

I have eaten twinkies here & there. There are cream filled vanilla cakes & absolutely delicious.
I never have eaten the former & I avoid the latter, because I want to remain 6 feet 180-185 or
thereabouts, & not transform into a **** cardiac diabetic blimp. It is a constant battle for me
because, genetically speaking, I am amongst the 80-90% of middle aged people in America, Western Europe, & eastern Australia who are metabolically at risk of gaining 50 pounds in 6 months if I
carelessly ate this ****. PS: 10-20% of people (like my X-wife) are genetically protected by a rapid carb/lipid metabolism & can eat infinite amounts of this delicious garbage & not gain a pound. Some
very smart docs around the globe are trying to develop drugs/diets which can convert the majority of people (typified by me) into the minority of people (like my X-wife). If they are ever successful, it would constitute one of the biggest "breakthroughs" in the history of medicine.

Now, I have been very honest & straightforward with u, Bendy. So what the flying **** does "suss" mean, goddamit???

American actors doing an Australian accent = comedy gold. Apparently we are a cross between South African and cockney.

Good call on The Castle and Chopper Bendy.

Yeah but I couldn't remember anything but her first name and the name of the movie. I couldn't even remember if it was "A dingo stole my baby" or "A dingo ate my baby" because it has been misquoted so many times. Pretty interesting topic, actually. It seems nobody listened to the aboriginal tracker who saw the dingo prints leading up to and away from the tent.

All that tequila and Mexican beer talk in the other thread made me think about how much Boston sucks at those things. Sorry, guys... but on this topic, and women, I feel like I have escaped Plato's Cave moving to California 10 years ago.

Drinking a Mexican beer in San Diego would be like eating English food in Paris.

"I got us a table at Le Grand Véfour, anyone hungry?"

"Oh, hell no... gimme some BANGERS AND MASH, baby!"

Uhh... yeah.

I honestly think I would rather drink a Pliny the Elder, urinate, and then drink that than drink a Mexican beer.

Tequila, you guys are getting better at, but still. I'm down for Patron Silver, Cazadores or maaaaaaybe Hornitos if I am half in the wrapper. But that's about all. No salt, no lime, don't even mess with that nonsense unless there is some hottie that I can do a body shot off of.

And while we are on the topic, how come every visit from a Bostonian to California involves (a) them wearing a Sox cap and cargo shorts everywhere they go, and (b) a pilgrimage to In-N-Out Burger? It's a totally ordinary fast food burger, dudes. Yeah, they have a secret menu and religious propaganda on their cups. Whoop dee damn doo. Double-double animal style not gonna change your life, and the fries taste like cardboard after the first bite. I mean, can we AT LEAST go to Five Guys, already? For ****'s sake, have some self-respect.

It's crazy to me, man. People would visit me in SF, a city with the best food in the country at totally affordable prices, and ask me take them to In-N-Out.

And another thing, you guys suck at burritos, man. Hardcore. I ain't got **** to say about pizza or lobster, but seriously. First of all... rice and beans do not belong in a burrito. Beans are a side dish, and rice isn't even Mexican. Tell Anna's and Boca Grande to get that **** under control already. If I walk into a taco shop in San Diego and there are more than 2 other gringos in the room, I'm leaving. Unless... it is at Lucha Libre, in which case I will get a Surfin' California burrito with carne asada, shrimp, avocado, pico, chipotle sauce and yes, french fries. That **** is bomber, as you can see below.

I worked for a start-up in San Diego doing remote DBA work for a bit. I lived in Mira Mesa, off of Scripps Ranch Blvd (on the hill, below the reservoir.) There was this Mexican joint at the bottom of the hill as Scripps Ranch meets Mira Mesa. The name is escaping me right now but the burritos are really good. I am a carne asada man myself.

Additionally, there is a Vietnamese restaurant and a Chinese restaurant (incredible Mongolian Beef) on the opposite side of Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch side before you get to the Denny's. These were all located right outside my condo complex.

Favorite Thai food in San Diego has to be the one on Black Mountain Road near Miramar Road. The duck is particularly good. There is also a pretty decent Indian restaurant in close proximity, if I remember correctly.

My neighbors (and co-worker, as the company owned four condos side-by-side in that complex) at the time was a Nigerian family. I ate a lot of pepper soup, okra soup and fufu ... stuff like that.

My old lady made cou cou and flying fish today. It was better than my Grammy's but would have been better if we had been able to get fresh fish instead of frozen. She loves me, she really, really loves me. [/Sally Fields]

That sounds awesome, Pogue. Except for the part where you didn't live at the beach.

Check out this clip from the Travel Channel and tell me it doesn't make you even hungrier.

Maybe cause there's no In-N-Outs around here? I like to try new food because where I live there's only the basics (Wendys, McDonald's, BK). I could have sworn there was one in Florida when I went in January and my grandparents said it sucks.

I can't comment on Mexican food though because I hate that ****.

Brother, I hear you, but I don't. Imagine some friend from a far off land showing up in Newie and saying, "Take me to Burger King! I command you!"

You'd be like, the **** you talking about, holmes?

As for Mexican, even Mexicans wouldn't eat Mexican in New Hampshire.

If they have never been to one I'd understand. But then I'd probably be like so you don't want to go to an ACTUAL restaurant?

I can't do the spices with Mexican. I hate spicy/hot ****. Medium salsa is about as Mexican as I get

Supposedly In-n-Out burgers transport quite well.

I drink habanero sauce right out of the bottle, so I can't relate.

But... I will say that on default mode, most Mexican isn't that spicy. Most places have a salsa bar off to the side where you can get your business on, according to taste. You know you are in a real Mexican joint when everyone is eating tacos rather than burritos, and when there is a sign up in Spanish that tells you not to take like 80 cups of the spicy pickled carrots from the salsa bar just because you got a $2 taco al pastor for lunch. I've sat there and watched day laborers taking a pound's worth of that **** on their lunch break, lol.

In and Outs? A burger place is not what I thought you were talking about when I first read that. I was thinking more along the 'A Clockwork Orange' line.
