Would Atlanta ever contemplate moving Williams for Blache and a non-lottery draft pick? Williams is paid more in the next 2 seasons, but Blache has a 3rd year. He is a PF versus the need for a Sf. However, if Blache can get re-orientated, Atl has a superior big man rotation with Horford, Smith and Blache. WDC gets an adult at SF and a solid citizen for a tough locker room.

ATL gets a immature and non-solid citizen for a cancerous locker room experience?

Blatche can stay with WAS. :-?

While true for the most part about Williams and Blache, Blache has a great deal more upside and Atlanta is in a bit of a rut. They need an infusion of talent to help them compete with Chi and Miami. Williams has hit his celing and has a high price on his production. Good coaching and new teammates may help Blache reach a much higher ceiling. Atl would also get non-lottery pick tocoversome of this downside risk. It is a bit of a gamble, but one that appears measured for Atl.

No interest in Blatche or a protected 1st and no interest in anything the Lakers have outside of Kobe, Pau, and Bynum that 1st rd pick is almost worthless from them as I look more at this weak draft.

nay, Horford may be hurt but he still has a lot more value than Gallinari; Koufos is just a backup C, and Mozgov has a little bit of value but not nearly as much to compensate us trading Horford for Gallinari.

I like this trade, we get a good young SG in Morrow, and a 1st, Ik that Joe's really hot right now but he'll be overpaid and overaged in 3 years; we have to think about the future.

What do you all think of trading JSmith for DLee of the Warriors. You need a Center, but Lee can play there and is a very good, smart player.

We could just offer Josh Lee's contract and it would actually seem like a tremendous bargain in comparison.

Some of the trades I've been hearing for JSmith, like Cavs Varejao and number of relative noones seem less than what Lee gives hey. Might actually give some fluidity in the Hawks offense for a change

We need a true center, not a PF who is the same height as Smith who can play some center. Lee is a solid offensive weapon, but Smith has shown himself to be a solid rebounder and is a much better defender.

What rumors. There were rumors before the trade deadline that he had asked for a trade, but those were shot down.

Smith to Lee is a downgrade for the Hawks so it doesn't really help. Atlanta would still be left with two pf's after the trade, both of which can play some center but it shouldn't be their primary position. Not a good trade for the Hawks./

i think you are talking about the Cavs offer of Varejao and their pick, which is still a no.

What do you guys think of JSmith as a SF? He looks more than mobile enough to play well against other SFs on both ends.

last year he played over half the year at SF with Collins at Center and Horford at PF. last year, Smoove averaged 16.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 3.3asp, 1.6bpg, 1.3spg, .477FG%, .331 3P%

Smoove is a better PF, but he is an above average SF.

The PLAN has been to play Smith at SF but Horford's health hasn't allowed that. I think Smith needs to be inside and going up against SFs would greatly help him.

Where is this revisionist history coming from? I don't remember any PLAN to play Smith at SF more, in fact I remember Drew shutting down that idea at the beginning of the season when asked about Smoove's weight loss. And Josh did not play half the season at SF last year......he played barely 11% of the total available minutes at SF in 2010-11. To even suggest that Collins somehow managed to not only start but play enough minutes for half a season is ludicrous in itself.

It's been well documented over the years about Josh's woes as a SF that necessitated the need for him to play the power position but some newcomers like to create their own fantasies and offer an entirely different account than the actual events that occurred in history. Fact is we've watched him get burned badly defensively against SFs like Melo and Durant this year because of his age old lack of lateral quickness and we've all figured that he can only thrive offensively at the position if he's paired with a PF that actually plays like an elite SF such as Dirk because you can't count on consistent shooting or ball handling by him.

Make a lot of good points but what you're talking about here technically doesn't count because Melo and Durant were playing small ball and there were more lanes to drive.

Smith at SF means he has a PF and C helping defend behind him.Smith played 2 stints at SF vs OKC
prompting Scott Brooks to go small so it would open lanes up.

The defense really gets intense & rebounding goes up. You have Smith rim running and that can put some trouble on opposing guards and small wings who are the 1st ones back...

Its a real defensive overload but Smith's scoring goes down so your PF has to be counted on to score.
In the end Smith at SF depends on what matchups you're looking at.
