On Friday, April 6, one of the players chosen to the All-Eurocup first team will become the 2011-12 Eurocup MVP

MVP will be decided between Valanciunas and Beverley IMO

Yes it's true.

The Spurs are attempting to move up into the lottery by trading Tony Parker. If they are successful and complete a trade with the Kings, for example, they would select Jonas Valanciunas with the seventh overall pick, according to a report from Draft Express.

They're probably one of the best teams at developing talent and if they were willing to trade Parker they must have had a lot of faith in him.

This is truly great news if true. I trust the Spurs' scouting, especially in the international scene, more than any other franchise in the association :D .

Valanciunas (11.3 ppg., 64.1% 2FG, 7.9 rpg., 1.6 bpg., 16.9 index) becomes the first Eurocup Rising Star award winner to reach the All-Eurocup first team. He ties for second place in index, is also second in total rebounds, fourth in blocks and seventh in two-point percentage.

It's a shame Jonas hasn't got a good PnR PG in his team. Would be totally beasting. Though this might work out for the better as he is forced to improve his iso game under such circumstances.

They should better give it to Jonas, because Beverley is a mediocre player even by European standards.

Quote by Maurizio Gherardini.
Yes, our plan is to sign him this summer as we hope he can be a key piece of our core group of young talented players, a very nice piece for the future of the Raptors. We do not have any objections as we understand how much any player in the world would like to do whatever it takes to represent your country with the National Team and, in this specific case, to make it to the Olympic Games

That quote makes we warm inside :) I guess it's the other way for Raptors fans though.

I don't mind in his early career, but yeah, I hope he has a falling out with the NT around age 25

I'm actually excited to see him go up against some of the best in the world. At least we'll know he will be in great shape to start the season.

At this stage, while he's young, it makes a great deal of sense for him to play for the National Team. It's a whole lot better than playing in Summer League. However, I do object when guys like Turkuglu or Nowitski play for their national teams late in their careers when they are being paid huge money by their regular teams. These older guys who have given many years to their national teams end up coming to their NBA team tired, even injured, and take longer to heal. I think Steve Nash did the right thing - playing regularly for Canada through his early prime, then cutting the national team off. I realize he was angry that Jay Triano was fired as national team coach, but it was also the right time for him to give 100% to Phoenix.

And Dagger, I think you mentioned that after the qualifiers he has about 2 months of downtime so i that makes this even better.

Gets to battle some NBA players as a warm up to his NBA season, gets a chance to rest and hit the weights, then comes to training camp ready to play.

This might work out very well for us.

Well after qualifiers there is one or two weeks gap and then Olympics tournament. Also considering Lithuania made top 4 in Olympics every time since 92' I imagine Jonas won't finish early in tournament.

C'mom 25 is way too early. I'd be content if he quit National Team after his 29h birthday - a whole decade is enough.

P.S. Huge game versus Zalgiris - arch rival of "Lietuvos Rytas" starts in 20 mins !

I had the same thought, but than I remembered who is Zalgiris starting center. Javtokas has wooden hands and often bricks his shots, so JV won't need to put too much pressure on him. The biggest concern for Jonas will be to stay out of stupid fouls.
