Im sure thats just put there to let us know what the riddle is and that the couple sentences is the riddle. I dont think "the riddle is" is apart of the riddle... I thought about that too a few years ago, because he says every time i say the riddle...and the only time he uses the word riddle is "the riddle is" but i dont think that part has anything to do with the acual riddle.

Okay what about the second solution?

You know, that could be the answer right there staring right in front of our faces! All of that stuff could just be backstory and by the ten block the passengers simply got tired of figuring it out and told him to GTFO!

All those other things happened because a man had a dollar.

I go with those who think that is the answer.

Rearrange the letters in "OWONDER" to make one word.

You throw away the outside and cook the inside. Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What did you eat?

Those are riddles. That thing the OP posted, thats a joke on us

"they" kicked him out.

Who are "they".

I see two actors: A streetcar driver and the original man.

Who else is kicking him off?

I’m going with this solution until someone tells me how it does not fit..

The riddle is:

A man had a dollar. He spent 80 cents for a drum and 10 cents for 2 drumsticks. He gave a streetcar driver a dime to drive him 13 blocks. On the tenth block they kicked him out. Why?

Hint: I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle

The answer is ”A man had a dollar” The hint is I tell you the answer every time I say the riddle and the next words after that are "A man had a dollar". So they kicked him off because “A man had a dollar” the streetcar reached capacity and he had only paid a dime for him and his drums. That also explains why it said “They kicked him out” They being the man with the dollar and the streetcar driver.

A dime in that sentence doesn't refer to the coin. It's a woman (dimepiece). They kicked him out (meaning the woman and the streetcar driver) because the man was getting in the way..

I am still of the camp to the original riddle that says "the tenth block" is the crucial bit of information. The drum and drumsticks are red herrings (drum and its sticks? or Drum of alch and food?)

he payed to go 13 blocks, he starts out 23rd block, pays for 13, and gets kicked out on the "tenth"

notice riddle did not say he got kicked out "after ten blocks" but that he got kicked out "on the tenth"

One possibility is he died.

Rearrangement of the letters in "the riddle" = He died + trl

I give you the answer every time I say "the riddle". And you give the riddle upon your deathbed. Meaning either the man with the dollar died or the person on their deathbed died before they could give the critical piece of information.

Or maybe both.

Edit: A few other entries for this in the thread. Was this option ever explored?

Jesus. I said almost exactly this 3 years ago

Capn'O wrote:I think you're on to something here.

He gives the driver a dime and THEY kick him out after 10 blocks. There is only one driver mentioned. That has to be at least one of the pieces.

I was seeing if there was a marching band tune called "the riddle" that could potentially offend but no dice.

Is this an example of great minds think alike or is that something else?

Did I get it? Did I? It's been awful quiet since I posted that last answer. I feel like somebody is going to jump out to take me away any time now...

Then what apart the spending part of the riddle. You cant use the word he without first reffering to somebody. "He" Who bought the drum and drumsticks is the man with the dollar.

I'm thinking something along the lines of "kick drum" as the only "they" or plural thing in this is the drum kit.

Yes I am suckered in.

he says

"i tell you the answer every time i say THE RIDDLE"

so i bet that has a big part to do with it.

Maybe also it has to do with him needing riddalin, and the tenth block they couldnt take his ADD (the riddle is sounds like ridalin i guess lol)
