The business the own and a source of income rite now is the Sacramento Kings, thats they are penny pinching. They're treating this as a business, all the other owners in the NBA have other business that made them filthy rich and allowing them to own a NBA team. Maloof's were in the same situation but rite now they head deep in loans. They can't/ don't want to sell the team and loose the only business that they control.

I don't really know their financial situation right now. As with most mega rich people a lot of their income could be in the basis of annual interest from cash investments. Sounds to me like they went liquid with most of their assets and if that's the case, then them be relieved of the burden of that casino could indeed have helped their monthly profit/loss statement quite a bit.

I agree with this, the league would look real bad after the efforts of the city and a reasonable deal. Pretty much assume Stern told them you can move if they fail to come up with a reasonable deal.

Could be a blessing, I am willing to put all the marbles in and gamble on them being cheap skate cry babies, in order to hope the league forces them out.

This last arena 3.2 million pre development fiasco was the last straw, and KJ will do all he can, let's hope 1-2 more years of bs lead to Burkle coming in.

I would not care if we had the poorest owners in the league if the heart was in it, heart has been done for years now, and they got busted back in 99 as minority owners talking about relocation.

Not that he is the most popular guy around here, but Marcos Breton had an interesting take on things in today's Bee on the front of the Metro section giving a perspective on just how bad off the Maloof's are when it comes to the building they OWN.

heres all the teams payrolls:

You are missing the point. Even if they did open their wallet, they aren't getting top flight players to come to sac. That leaves second tier players who they have to massively overpay for, or attempt to make trades. Unfortunately, GP sucks at just about everything but drafting, so that's that.

GP traded for Webber and Vlade and Bibby and hired Adelman.

The moment the Maloofs stopped the stability of Adelman/GP the franchise has never been the same.

The NBA or pro sports are extrememly competitive. You need stability that everyone is on the same page.

The Maloofs have shot GP in the foot over and over the may way they shoot themselves in the foot in business and the Sacramento fans.

Losers in life like the Maloofs or Daniel Snyder or Jerry Jones blame somebody.

Even if the Maloofs start to spend it's really too late to save this franchise. Our GM may of had this hands tied by the broke Maloofs, but he hasn't done a great job on trades & drafting. Our coach is a joke. We have the worst arena in the NBA with no plans for a new one insight. No way we can attract all star caliber players, even if we did overpay them. To turn this team around the Maloofs would have to spend twice what they are spending now & get a top coach. Not going to happen.
