Mexican - you can't go wrong with either La Perla or Botanas, I likem both a lot, but I'd probably say Botana's is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee.

Pizza - Lisa's in my opinion is the best! Thin crust, but light and crunchy, great sauce, but just a warning the service can be a little slow at times, so if you are going before a game, go early.

Steak - Carnevor is amazing, great place to go on a special occassion, whenever we go, which isn't very often, I always tell them it's my wife's b-day, or she tells them its mine to get a free desert :wink:

Seafood - I like Devon's at Bayshore - Crab cakes are really good, same with scallops and shrimp, and lobster...and they have a lot of good deals if you sign up for the e-mails.

I went to Emperor of China once and I was extremely disappointed. I like the other two places though. I'll go back to Emperor soon on your recommendation. What is your favorite dish? Let it be known that if it isn't good, I am going to hate you forever.

This doesn't surprise me. I know some other people who grew up in the south who also scoffed at it being any good.

I know the guy from Maxie's said when they initially opened I guess he tried to make it more traditional and authentic... and not that many people liked it. So he altered the menu to make it a little acceptable for the folk up here?

I really like it, but I've never had traditional Cajun from down south. So that's probably why.

I'm going to New Orleans sometime soon though. When I do, I am going to give it a go for sure.

Looks like they only have the $25 gift certificate. The password changes every few days but usually it discounts them to $2.

My theory was if you take a girl out on a date and she was offended you pulled out a coupon for $25 (even though it made no difference on her meal or date), she isn't worth dating. I'll spend money on a girl, but not to the point where is solely for show.

I love Resturant.com. You should try Wine Knot downtown Kenosha...I love that place and you can use the coupon towards drinks too. I'm not man enough to bring a coupon a first date. Although, like you, I live in Racine, so I probably shouldn't have any shame either. :wink:

Bourbon Street is fun for the gimmicky thing to do. Get a Hurricane or Huge A** Beer and take in the sights. But Frenchman Street is where all the talented musicians play. I've been to NOLA 6 times in the last 7 years. 3 times for work and 3 times for bachelor parties. I'll kick it on Bourbon one night and spend the rest of my time on Frenchman. Trust me. When you going?

My daughter loves Olive Garden, so because of her, i've eaten there about 4-5 times. Their food is pretty good for a chain restaurant, it's not Applebees type of garbage. In fact, i like their salads so much that i not only eat 2-4 plates full each time i've been there, i have some of their dressing in my fridge.

Speaking of Italian food, there is a pizza place on about 54th and Forest Home called Maria's Pizza that i absolutely love and have been going to for ages. I've always preferred thin crust pizza and their crust is practically paper thin, but super crispy on the edges. It's delicious, the sauce has a unique taste, and their homemade sausage is the best of any i've ever had. Plus, if you ever sit in there to eat, it's almost like entering a time warp because of the decor inside the place.

Pizza - Hup's Pizza (around 54th and Silver Spring?) call ahead and order, then go pick it up. It's literally a little shack, but don't be scared. It's FANTASTIC

Chinese - Yen Ching (76th and Good Hope) BLOWS Emperor of China out of the water for the meals I've had.

Mexican - El Beso is pretty good. I haven't really picked one that stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Carnevor is ridiculous. Very expensive, but worth it as long as $200 fr dinner for 2 doesn't scare you off.

For a less expensive dinner, but still excellent, La Merenda is fantastic, particularly for those (like me) who really enjoy trying new foods. They rotate the menu quarterly, so my wife and I go every 3 months and love it. About $75 for a great meal, and that's getting more than enough to eat and a drink or two as well. I can't recommend that place enough.
