I think it's about time for a slump buster.

Let's go GS! I'm on the Jazz to the lottery side of things now.

Paul Millsap (stomach virus) and Devin Harris (ankle) are game-time decisions.

I'd rather have positive late season experience + 4 playoff games (at worse) for this youthful squad than a disappointing out for the 2nd season in a row for a crapshoot shot at the 8th pick (at best)

I agree, but I can see wanting the flip side (guaranteed lottery pick plus the possibility of the 7th or 8th pick in the draft).

I understand the argument that you should always root for your team to win, but the idea that you can't be a fan of the Jazz and root for the W's to win this game is just ludicrous. I care way more than I should about the Jazz, but I probably want the W's to win. I don't want the W's to win despite the fact that I'm a Jazz fan, but because I'm a Jazz fan. I don't want what's best for this team tonight or even what's (ostensibly) best for this team this season, but what's best for this team in the long run (playing the young guys, getting the W's pick, etc.)

I'd obviously take a win, but I really want the Jazz to get that draft pick. A lot more than I want the Jazz to win this game. Obviously, it's not an either-or scenario, but a W's win tonight would certainly help us get their pick and we're not going to make the playoffs anyway. Also, I'm hoping that if we lose a couple more games and fall out of the playoff race more definitively, Ty will finally decide to give the young guys the minutes they need and deserve. Maybe I'm a traitor for not blindly accepting and supporting what's happening now, though.

I can see not wanting your team to tank if the benefits received are only speculative, but after looking at the Golden State board, a win for them tonight would seriously hurt their chances of keeping their pick. I can't root against the Jazz, but I won't be very upset if we lose tonight.

I always think it's better to win.
I would rather experience than two more picks.
I mean, we have 4 young guys, and we are happy with them.
So, play them.
If GSW pick it's not this year, we´ll have it next.
Our biggest need it's a good playmaker. We can add it in the free agency. Harris has still one more year and he is playing better lately.
I would rather to have GSW than ours (which will be 13 or 14) but to play playoffs is always how great young teams get better (remember for example OKC or CHI)

I have joined you after the embarrassing Suns loss. A playoff team does not lose that game at home. Corbin refuses to play the right players. We need picks and trade away Jefferson in the off season. No Millsap today so we could get lucky and lose.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

You make some great points, but the difference between us and OKC and Chicago is that, when those teams made the playoffs the first time, their core pieces for the future were playing huge minutes. Obviously, making the playoffs would still be valuable experience for our young guys, but not nearly as valuable as it would be if they were playing bigger roles (i.e. the roles they'll be playing when we're in the playoffs a few years down the road). If we played the young guys more, won tonight, made the playoffs and missed out on the GS pick, I'd be a happy camper, but if we're just going to keep doing what we've been doing, I'd much rather have the GS pick (and our pick) than a win tonight or even a short-lived playoff berth.

If we got run out of the building by the Thunder or Spurs though (which has a good chance of happening) would that really be a positive experience for the team?

This is my point. Not really that great of an experience for the team if they lose in four. I don't think the Jazz are ready for the big time yet. With that being said, 2 lottery picks are not what is going to get them to the next level either. I believe it is going to have to be a combination of trading picks/players for the right pieces to get the Jazz on the right track again.

i'm sure as some kind of karmic revenge, the jazz lose, miss the playoffs, golden state has the 8th worst record but still gets a top 7 pick in the lottery.

I will be going to the game tonight. It is the first one that I have been to in quite sometime. I am really excited. I don't care for the parking around there though.
