Maybe D12 knows something about Deron..

Post#1 » by DreamDeadly » Fri Apr 6, 2012 8:59 pm

While Nets fans are excited with this D12 rift with Van Gundy.... does anyone think that maybe Dwight knows something about Deron Williams..... something like he is OUT of NJ/Brooklyn after this season????

Think about things here..... D12 apparently wanted the Nets... He wanted to be traded there to pair with Deron..... but when it came down to March 15th... Howard opted in for another year....... while there was likely a deal in place for him to be traded to NJ where he would be paired with Deron Williams...... yes i know it would have cost young players on the roster & draft picks but he would have gotten what he wanted... to be paired with Deron Williams and in the NY market, and it seems that he could have had it on March 15th.

He also could walk at the end of the year by opting out... maybe Orlando would have traded him, maybe they would have kept him at the trade deadline and were bluffing... but Howard did an about face & opted in for another year.... perhaps he realizes that playing in Orlando with a chance to win trumps playing in NJ/Brooklyn on a team without Deron Williams.

From the Kerber stories etc today it seems Howard was basically saying trade me to the Nets and only Nets. Then the Magic called his bluff and said opt in or we're trading you to LA, a place he didn't want to be because it was following in Shaq's shoes and exactly what he didn't want to do.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Williams in my view, it's completely independent from that because it was mid March.

We're basically going to look at somehow trying to trade for Howard, who clearly isn't popular right now in a franchise which is up in arms right now. It's been reported also that the Magic want Howard to sign an extension in the summer or he's gone because they don't want to go through all this again next season.

So in short, no I don't believe Howard knows something about Williams possibly leaving.

That make no sense IMO. Even if he was traded to the Lakers, he WOULD STILL BECOME A FREE AGENT after the season. Following Shaq foot steps is a F**king BS answer. The guy decided to way his opt out right to NOT GO TO THE LAKERS?! What the.......

The thought is that Dwight didn't want to hurt his popularity by pissing off two franchises, plus he would be questioned quite a bit if he left LA for NJ.

Double edged sword if that was his thought process. He not pissed off two team, he also pissed of the Lakers side now for sure. He's a great player and all, but geez, these Superstars need to get there sh*t in line.

If he goes to the Lakers, am I really that far off if I said Lakers would be favorite in the West to go to the Finals? :-?

Not at all. They certainly would have been.

But he wanted Brooklyn and didn't want to be in Shaq's shadow and was about to be a free agent.

So homie sacrificed a great chance to win a Championship AND still become a Free Agent to not "follow Shaq foot steps"? Maybe I'm missing the big picture here or missing the obvious, but I find it hard to believe. I don't agree with that assumption, but I'm not even going to knock it since this guy probably has a tough choice picking out which socks he wants to wear to leave his house.

Like others have said.... if he wanted to come to New Jersey so bad, why would he choose to stay another at Orlando instead of making a pitstop in LA then coming to NJ as soon as possible. Doesnt make sense. Also he is going to lose his LA base (whatever base he had there) no matter what whenever he ends up in Brooklyn. One more thing, NO WAY the Lakers would trade away Bynum if they didnt have an agreement in hand for an extension for Howard. Thats common sense and Howard or his agent should be smart enough to know that. No team would trade away the assets needed for Howard for half a year of service. Whole story doesnt make much sense.

But then again, opting in and losing money doesnt make much sense either.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

One more thing, any coach who has Deron Williams and Dwight Howard on the team better watch his back.

About the Lakers offer of Bynum for a rental, I highly doubt they offered that but whats to stop the Magic bluffing they are trading Howard for Bynum to scare him into opting in because of this "im not Shaq" thing.

Random I know but we have no idea what went on behind the scenes

Well, a simple phone call from the agent to the Lakers telling them they arent going to resign would stop that trade on the spot.

Howard can call anyones bluff by simply stating I am going to be a free agent this summer. He has the power because he can choose to resign when and where he wants.
