A major topic in the late 1980s would be how Michael Jordan is a great player but not a winner because guys who lead the league in scoring don't win titles.

See, realgm was just as stupid back then too.

all real posts...

Scott May 16 1990, 2:59 pm:

Jesus Christ. Magic finally lost a series despite doing everything
humanly possible, so obviously he's not Jordan's equivalent. Give me
a break! Did all you guys enroll in Mehrdad's School of Faulty
Thinking over the summer or what? Ten years from now you'll be on the
other side of the debate, telling everyone how Michael can't compare
to the latest wonderboy
.

Russ May 16 1990, 5:51 pm:

You obviously don't get it Scott, why is it Jordan's fault that he has no
rings(ie. he scores too much and hurts his team) but it's not Magics fault t
when the Lakers lose and he does the same thing. When Jordan averages 35
a game you guys(magic fans) say he hurts his team and would help them more
if he played like Magic. When Magic is forced to play the same way and loses
he's the hero not the goat. When Jordan does it it's his fault. For the
first time in his career, Magic wasn't dealt a winning hand prior to a series
and he couldn't win. Jordan has had a subpar hand his whole career but has
bluffed his way to alot of wins by carrying his team. For the first time in
his career Earvin had to compete on even terms and he lost. By the way, 10
years from now Michael will be a bit older than Earvin is now so I don't
think that analogy works..

Before the 1996 season began

Michael Jordan is not the best player to play game. In fact he was always
an overatted player. The only reason his PPG was so high was he is such
a BALLHOG. He is always taking contested double team shots insted of
passing to open teammates. Sure he hit a couple of great shots to win
series(Cleavland), but if he wasn't such a BALLHOG he wouldn't had to
take the game winning shots. This year just proves my point, his first
game back he takes 30 SHOTS???? Come on, he isn't that good, if anyone
should have been taking 30 shots that game, it should have been Reggie
Miller. He may have won three championships, but the 3 teams the Bulls
beat weren't that great. The Lakers were at the end of their Showtime
era and without Kareem and with Vlade when they were beet by the bulls.
The Portland Trail Blazers were show-stoppers either, the best team they
may have beaten was Phoenix. I would have liked to seen them beat some of
the Celtic, Laker, and Piston teams of the 1980's in finals.

^ change the name Jordan to Kobe and the teams played and it sounds identical to Kobe pre 2009

Furthermore, you are an idiot because Jordan took about 19 shots his first game
back. If you are going to bash MJ, at least have some accurate FACTS!!! Some
players in this league are paid to be primarily scorers. I guarantee you that
if Jordan had waited around for his teammates to take charge in many games,
they would have NEVER been champs. Just look at Pippen when Jordan wasn't
there. Sure his stats were better, but he just didn't take much charge.
Neither did his teammates. BTW, any team that advances to the Finals are good,
and the team that wins the Finals is well deserving of the title: World
Champions. Look at Houston: not so hot record in the regular season, but
playing by far the best basketball in the postseason.

Nets forward Derrick Coleman calls Jazz forward Karl Malone an Uncle Tom - Jet Magazine, April 3, 1995

New Jersey Nets power forward Derrick Coleman recently escalated his war of words with Utah Jazz power forward Karl Malone when he called Malone an Uncle Tom.

"He's an Uncle Tom, an Uncle Tom since the beginning of time," Coleman said of Malone, adding, "He's not real. He's just fake. He talks a good game."

Malone seemed to take the remarks in stride and seemed puzzled and somewhat amused by them.

"If I'm a Uncle Tom and I'm selling out my race, if that's what he means, then I don't know what to say," Malone said in the New York Daily News.

"That (bleep) doesn't bother me. It's just another young fella not respecting his elders.

"I have a lot of White friends, I know that. It all makes me chuckle because I don't know when all this started with him. I have to laugh it off because it's funny to me," Malone added.

The feud between the two players began when Coleman entered the league in 1990 but recently heated up after the two faced-off in January at a game in Salt Lake City in which Malone outscored Coleman 20-8 as the Jazz defeated the Nets 111-94.

Coleman and Malone got into a brief shoving match that resulted in both players receiving technical fouls. After the game, Malone insisted he bumped Coleman by accident.

Coleman accused Malone of trying to bump him "on the sly."

Malone said Coleman would be the best power forward in the NBA if he worked harder.

He also accused Coleman of having a poor attitude.

"Every guy on that team is going to do what he does. His teammates are either going to follow him to the lottery (draft) or follow him to the championship," Malone said in the New York Post.

Since Coleman joined the Nets, they are 0-7 against Malone and the Jazz. In the seven games they have played against each other, Malone has averaged an impressive 26.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 48.3 percent field goal shooting.

Coleman, in the same seven meetings, has averaged 14.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 38.1 percent shooting.

On Kwame Brown:

Holy ****. That's all I can say. He is going to be SICK. What is he, a mere
20 years old?
16pts. 6 blocks, 5 rebounds through 2.5 quarters. Nah, those #1 picks aren't
worth anything, right fat ass Wallace?

From the neck up, Brown looks like your typical 16 year old punk. Neck down
... a 28 year old PF entering his prime. At 6'11" and once he fills out
muscle-wise, he should be a dominant Center later in his career if he so
chooses.
Along with Deke, Ratliff, Miles, LaFrentz, and Eddie Griffin, he will
challenge for the blocked shots crown this season. I would give my left arm
to get a shot blocker like that on the Celts.

Tyler you a Wizards fan? Your team looks great. I envy Kwame Brown.... I
think Washington will shock the league. They could win it all.

You're right.
Michael should just play for free, or better yet, quit basketball all
together and start making "feed starving children" commercials with
Sally Struthers. Nike should give their shoes away, too, don't you
think? Shame on you Michael, for all your hard work and talent.

Oh My GOODNESS!! What is this world coming to, when the people nominate a
basketball star to run this complicated country of ours! This is truely
pathetic and respresents the ignorance of some voters! Why would I want a
basketball star, that has built his career solely on shooting a piece of
leather into a hole, to run MY country and be the COMMANDER IN CHIEF!! I am
sorry, but basketball does not allow you to become a leader, no matter how many
national championships that you have won!
I wish you all the luck in drafting Jordan for president, because I believe you
will most definately need it!

First of all, calm down and turn off your caps, mayne.
Second, Mike is old. I am not so sure he could go the whole distance,
whereas Penny can. I am not so sure his shooting is better either - if you
pass me the rock oh, 50 times, I bet I could have a consistent 20-30
point per game season also. Jordan scores anywhere from a third to a half
of the Bulls points on most nights. Penny passes often to get the rest of
the team involved. So between Jordan's ballhogging and Penny's
unselfishness, one has to find an appropiate midpoint to measure
offensive ability by.
If Penny were to lose one on one to Jordan, dare I say it, but it would
be because of his "respect" of MJ. It peed me off in the first Magic Vs.
Bulls game because Penny seemed to just bow down to him instead of
competing against him. Thank goodness that Sir Charles isn't afraid of
him - and I LOVED that last Houston Vs. Chicago game. But back to the
point, if Penny decided to get competitive, I bet he could rock MJ's world.
*chest out* Though he is one of basketball's legends, he is NOT the best
player ever, and his Bulls AREN'T the best team ever. Here are some
justifications:
The Big O (and I mean Oscar, not fat Oliver) once averaged a triple
double for a season. Has MJ pulled that off? I think not.
The Boston Celtics that dominated for an entire decade would take these
and the pre-MJ-retirement Bulls. And so would Magic and Kareem's Lakers.
The best Bulls team has already passed - and I'm talking the
pre-retirement one. THAT was a team. What you see now is a zoo.

Michael Jordan, the biggest joke to ever play basketball.
I have posted messages like this several times in the past,
and isn’t it interesting, the post is deleted in just a few hours. This
doesn’t happen to other messages. Looks like the Pussy Platoon just can’t
handle the truth.
The moronic Jordan Fanatics just can’t take it, can you?
Your beloved JORDAN is nothing but a MEDIA CREATION. The newsmedia created
Michael Jordan, not Jordan himself. No one with field goal percentages and
free throw percentages as poor as Jordans, could receive the ratings this
goofball receives.
Who does coach Phil Jackson send to the free throw line to SHOOT TECHNICAL
FOULS???
Not Jordan, but STEVE KERR.
And why not. Steve Kerr has a 92% free throw percentage, compared to Jordan’s
79%.
Oh goodness me, we’re not supposed to point out such things, are we???
Oh yes, NBC’s Bob Costas wouldn’t dare make a point like this to his viewers.
Ditto for that other moron Bill Walton, who’s brain is probably no larger than
what you’d find in a chicken.
Did you see how many times Michael Jordan lost and threw away the ball in the
first game against Indiana??? Yes, Jordan does this all the time.
BUT THERE WERE NO RADIO OR TV COMMENTATORS TO DRAW ATTENTION TO IT, NOT EVEN
THE ANNOUNCERS ON THE INDIANA PACER RADIO AND TV STATIONS, FEEDING THE GAME
BACK TO INDIANA STATIONS.
When Dennis “transvestite” Rodman takes a shot and misses, the moronic NBC
announcers throw fifty brickbats at him: “there goes Rodman with an absolutely
horrible shot”, or similar such insane bull.
Let Saint Michael do the same thing, and oh dear, look at how the NBC, TNT,
and TBS announcers simply fall out of their chairs to
************ M A K E E X C U S E S ******************
for poor Saint Michaels shortcoming.
Really, how stupid can you Bulls(****) fans be??????????
Yes, the newsmedia has taught you all very well how to THINK WHAT THEY TELL
YOU TO THINK. Look at what appears on the newsgroups. “There’s your proof.
Just like in George Orwell’s book, “Nineteen Eighty Four”. The plot is
unfolding just as Orwell predicted (Orwell’s real name, BTW, is Eric Blair) :-
)
Saint Michael Jordan, supposedly the greatest play in NBA history, cannot
shoot layups with his left hand. Yet he is supposed to be the greatest of all
time. What kind of stupid stooge believes that nonsense??? You morons believe
it because the newsmedia tells you to believe it, WITHOUT QUESTIONING.
How many times have we seen Saint Michael charging down the court on a fast
break,
ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE COURT,
only to put the ball up against the glass
************ W I T H H I S R I G H T H A N D ***********
That is, when he isn’t in a position to slam-dunk it.
Jordan is forced to do this, even though it gives the defender a great
opportunity to block the shot, because Jordan has NO CONFIDENCE in the use of
his left hand, and he has no such confidence because Saint Michael Jordan is
nothing but an overrated JOKE.
I have seen high school kids able to use their left hand for layups, with
equal confidence to their right hand, and the NBA has a few players also who
are good with their left hand. Dedicated NBA watchers know who I mean--no need
to list them all here.
The significant point IS, Saint Michael Jordan, the darling of the degenerate
media, is NOT ONE OF THEM.
Keep plugging for your beloved Saint Michael, you stupid stooge regulars to
this newsgroup: maybe he will put in a good for you when he gets to basketball
heaven. And naturally, there is a heaven, right? Sure, says so in the Bible.
It the Bible says so, the SO IT MUST BE, just like with Jordan the Joke.
And perhaps the worst sin of all is Jordan is a BALL HOG, A SHOT HOG, A CREDIT
HOG. Jordan MUST outscore all his teammates, and it doesn’t matter to his fat
head how many idiotic, off-balance shots he has to take to accomplish his
goal. It matters little to Jerk Jordan how many times he refuses to pass the
ball to a wide open teammate--- Jordan MUST get more points than anyone else
on the team, least his IMAGE as Super Jordan becomes tarnished. Naturally,
Jordan knows the media will cover his smelly ass in such matters. Many of
Chicago’s losses are due precisely to this nonsense, but the newsmedia refuses
to point it out, and knowing the mentality of the American public, if you
don’t see something on “””TV”””, then it just isn’t true. Whatever is said on
TV becomes ETCHED IN STONE, the stone in the cranium cavity of the ignorant,
gullible and moronic American public.
Enjoy your Jordan, suckers. Truly, YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER.
Morse
