I don't see how Fisher "can run the point". He's been an off-ball spot up shooter pretty much his whole career, despite what his position label says.

Dubs fan here. Seems like a good vet presence to steady the young ship could be useful? I hate Fisher, but if he can be had for cheap, he could be a good asset for you guys.

I don't get why people would be opposed to this.
Would you rather Ryan Reid or Derek Fisher on the team?

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
Ryan Reid has little chance do something overtly positive on the court this season or in the playoffs, but he also has little chance do any harm.
In my mind Fisher brings the potential to do more harm than good. This assessment is as much a lack of trust in Brooks than in Fisher. Brooks has demonstrated that he is willing to put the team at great disadvantage with certain line up combinations based on a gut feeling.
As nothing more than an observer, it will be fun to watch the results.

Ya but Brooks is also one of the most stubborn coaches on his lineups in the NBA, and rarely tweaks things. I wouldn't even be surprised he Jackson keeps getting minutes over Fisher.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
Suggesting that adding Fisher is a purely Presti move with no input from Brooks is one way to look at it, but I'm going to assume the opposite. That Brooks is the one that advocated heavily for Fisher to be added if possible.
I think Brooks will apologize to Jackson and Ivey, but explain that Fisher's championship experience is a team need. Resulting in heavier than expected rotation minutes for Fisher.

Its not like were going out and getting Gilbert Arenas. If Fisher can't play he can't play. He knows he's 37 and not even close to the level of a player he used to be, he will be a great locker room guy for this team.

Poor OKC. You are signing a wolve in sheeps clothing. Fisher is a bad dude. He is one of the few players in the league that can get away with snubbing the Rockets only to leach on to a contender like OKC.
Hopefully your contract with Fisher can be setup, so that you don't have to pay him if he doesn't work out this season.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
I'm really glad Presti pulled this trigger on this move, very low risk with a high potential reward. Who knows how well he could play off the bench. He's been guarding/guarded by starters for his career, he might be able to really contribute with our 2nd unit. Especially with the slower pace our 2nd unit tends to plays at.
Even if he doesn't work out on the court Fisher's intangibles are alone enough to make this sign a no brainer.

I don't see the the issue with bringing a guy in who has 5 rings. He knows how to win. Jackson is not doing a good job right now.

I know how to win too! You score more points than the other team!
Really though, I don't mind this signing as a low risk/low reward kind of signing, as Jackson has struggled. But I'm not sure how I trust Brooks to keep Fisher in the second unit and not try anything stupid with him out there with the starters late in game in stupid lineups.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
i came here with peace. Congrats for Fisher signing. He can't play like he used to be (decent defensive spesialist PG), but deep down in his heart he always wanted to win. He will be a good mentor for Westbrook, Durant, Harden etc.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
No matter how good your team is, you simply cannot overcome a player playing 20 min and giving you nothing.
You have to contribute to the team in some way, hopefully positively, if you're getting that much time.
You can't just dribble the ball up the court, pass it to the other guard and stand in the corner.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
D Fish sucks. I thought the signing was dumb to begin with the dude was washed up three years ago.
This year especially he has been horrible. He had no time in the offseason to get in shape because he was negotiating the new CBA and at his age you can't just show up and make it happen. He sucks I hope they cut him.

Re: Potential Fisher buy out?
Coaches like to know what they're going to get from a player and no player in the league is more consistent than Fisher. The fact that the consistency given is bad play and non-production seems to be secondary to the consistency of it.
