now this is a better thread title just in case wall happens to surf the internet and look at the best basketball site in the world.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

couldn't have said it better.

He hasn't proved he is one of the better PGs in recent memory

My problem is peeps are writing him off and calling him overrated after 2 seasons. And I should have worded it differently and said better point guard prospects. I was in a rush.

Not saying I disagree. But how long it take Lebron and Wade to get to superstar status?

What about Gil? He seem like the only exception.

Regarding star status, I think it's fair to give Wall a pass this season. He's in a ridiculously bad situation.

It seems equally fair to say that barring catastrophe, next season should be our indicator. He'll have a full off season under a new coach, a much more stable roster, and more talent to work with. The schedule will be back to normal and there will be actual practice time. At that point, we should know if he's a Westbrook (very good but flawed player, 2nd best guy on a great team) or a true superstar.

What is Wall's floor/ceiling?

Ceiling - Kevin Johnson?

Floor - ???

His basketball upside is way higher than Kevin Johnson.

His political upside? Not as high.

Yeah, now that I think about it, that's a pretty bad comparison.

I think door #3 is fairly unlikely, but you're right, it's possible. I think Wall's absolute floor is a Rondo level of impact; very good in the right situation, not so great in the wrong one, with a critical flaw that prevents him from taking over games consistently. That's still a top-12 PG and a guy who can help your team win championships... just not one who can carry you to one himself.

This is a fair criticism of his game and I think it is highly accurate.

If Wall makes himself into the 2nd coming of Kevin Johnson, I'd be ecstatic. KJ was a phenomenal PG at his peak.

KJ averaged 18/9 for his career with a TS% of 58.5. I think i could live with that lol.

Just looking over Wall complete game log.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... /john-wall

Look at the games in which we have won. We have won 7 of 12 games when he didnt shoot that much or score that much. 12 or less shots and 12 or less pts.

Selective stats like that don't really much; Wall needs to take what the defense gives him, rather than pass an x amount of time or score an x amount of time... Bball (on the court atleast) is not a numbers game IMO...

I made that point a while back in another thread. I said there was a correlation between Wall having a lower usage rate and team success. I totally believe that to be the case.

Wall led the team in FGA vs NJ. A guaranteed recipe for failure.

Yes. Those were a selective stats. Every post here is selective. So lets X that part of your post out.

Did you actually look at the game log ?

I didnt really draw conclusions. To do that you would need to go game by game and see what other players did as well.

As for Wall doing in any given game what was needed by his team or what the other team gave him, well, I would love for that to be the case.
