"Minutes they earn"...ur nuts!!! Favors has been the Jazz best defense big all year long and cant get on the court even when Jefferson/Millsap were playing terrible. Burks is sitting behind CJ who has shot 30 percent all year long making dumb plays. Corbin is simply clueless. I hated the way Sloan coached towards the end of his career BUT he recognized Wes Matthews talent and played him as a rookie over veterans. Wes Matthews would have never seen the court if Corbin coached that team.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

It's an unpopular view. I don't mind being dumped on for it.
But Burks has not earned anything. Neither has Kanter. A very good case can be made for Favors but he is turning the ball over and in any case is certainly not better than either starting big. Not yet anyways.
I'd like to see more of Sap at the 3 but aside from that I don't see a bunch of minutes for DFav ATM.

We should have loss as Rockets beat the Lakers in LA and Denver wins so behind both teams 2 gsmes in the loss column and we are going to play the Spurs 2 games in a row. Season ended with the Losses to Kings and Suns at home and the win by Denver in Chicago and Houston in LA all within the last 2 weeks. What a crappy 2 weeks!
We win today killing our draft pick without even getting minutes for our young guys plus playoff hopes look extremely unlikely. A terrible day for the Utah Jazz organization.

Big picture - this is going to hurt us.
Jazz aren't making the playoffs and aren't getting the GSW pick.

Lol.
Listen to yourself. The GS pick just extends if we don't get it. There are tons of posters who will tell you the team won't play the young that we already have.
This team does not need to get any younger. That pick is an asset weather or not GS makes it so.
What this team needs to do, and what I expect from KOC, is a translation of assets that nets the team a player who fits. I really believe in the 4 young guys we have. Hayward, Burks, Favors and Kanter.
But there is no way for him to build on this until the prospects start showin. Gordon has. Favors has shown some flashes. Kanter of course nothing but has shown a lot of potential. Burks has a game to him but seems like the kind of guy that needs the team to relent to him to score. Of the prospects I am the least impressed with Burks. I'm sorry.

Favors produces whenever he has gotten minutes, especially these last two months. He gets to the line and anchors the defense. I don't give a rats a** if Al scores 20 points when he needs 20 shots to do it and he never gets to the line. Sure he will have a better night like tonight, but usually he doesn't.
There is a reason his usage rate is below league average.
Add the crappy defense and he is our worst big. Favors is outplaying him but after two months of showing that and actually having his minutes DECREASED I won't be surprised of he gets discouraged since it doesn't matter how well or how poorly he plays.
He won't be finishing games and he won't be getting more than 16 minutes a night unless Al or Paul are hurt. The times he has played for one of our guys and started when they were out he has done a nice job. See sixers game and GSW game.
So stop spewing this nonsense that Locke feeds people.
Same goes for Alec. He gets to the line more than any wings and he is already a better defender than CJ. In what world does it make sense to play CJ over Burks when CJ likely won't be on the team next year and he is worse thus year. Just one more year for CJ right? He will put it together in his 7th or 8th season?
The fact is Ty rails his young guys for any little screw up. They are so afraid to make one little mistake because the minute they do, Corbin goes back to his beloved vets who have proven...to lead us to the lottery last year. Boggle.
I'm frustrated at this point obviously. I think this team will be a victim of the double whammy that i heard a while back.
No playoffs and our young guys don't develop.
The game that sticks out to me is when Favors was destroying the Hawks. Killing it on D and getting to the line repeatedly. He had like 14 Pts and 7 boards. How many minutes did he finish with? Was it 15? Next game did he get rewarded for "earning his minutes?". Nope. Same minutes as always. It's a joke. Same for Alec.
And Hayward is getting more time bit was tha a coaching move? Nooope. He was forced to because Bell and Howard are hurt. Otherwise he is getting 20 mins like the rest. Maybe my frustration is that Ty is the worst development coach in the league. Look how far ahead the other guys in their draft class are. How did they get there? By sitting on a bench and soaking in the atmosphere? No. By Playing and being allowed to pay through mistakes.
How about this. If Al takes a dumb shot or misses a few on a row, he gets pulled. If Al gives up on D and let's a guy burn by him he sits. If Paul does it same. If they don't give effort for rebounds and watch it go to other guys they sit.
I could understand if they were behind stars. They aren't. They are behind Al the career loser and Paul who everyone knows is a Sixth man on a playoff team.
We already know where the vets On this team lead. Lottery. I want more. KOC failed by not moving the guys in front of them and now they are a year behind.
The first excuse was foul trouble. Now what is it?
Does Favors need 20 Pts and 10 boards in 16 minutes before he has "earned" more time?
Maybe they won't get their time with this team. Maybe the plan is to move them for vets in the offseason so we can be a perennial mediocre team that makes the playoffs so the millers can make their playoff money. they will trade them for guys that will have us be a 6-8 seed the next five years.
I am just sad because I have hoped for more. I want a championship for the Jazz but maybe it is a pipe dream.
/end rant

I couldn't have said it better myself. Kevin O'Connor has done a hell of a job putting together a great group of players, but our coach never makes any adjustments nor rewards our youngs for their good performance. How the hell Bell, Howard, and Miles have gotten so much playing time this season is beyond me. Now it's Watson getting undeserved minutes over Tinsley. More often than not, I'm happy with Al and Millsap, but when they don't play well, play Favors and Kanter heavy minutes. Also WHY didn't we keep playing Millsap at the 5 like we did at the end of last season? A lineup of Jefferson/Favors/Millsap/Hayward/Harris would be great, but like you said, it's all a pipe dream. I'm not sure though if it's on the ownership or some other influence though, cause Sloan appeared stubborn too.

Wow - lots of jazz fans with distortion goggles on. In what universe has favors outplayed Jefferson?! You guys are nuts. He is a promising young player, but his offese is non-existant!!! You can't put a playe with 0 offensive game into a unit that has 0 offensive game and expect to have score points! Yeah his D is better than Jefferson's, but its not nearly as lop-sided as the offensive comparison.
Also...I love Burks, but the kid's D is not better than Miles, and he doesn't have the physical tools to guard most good 2s and 3s. Didn't read the rest of ur rants after I saw the Favors>Jefferson and Burks's D >CJ 's D comments. yes these guys need minutes and they are getting them.

Appreciate the responses guys.
I can see why people are mad at Corbin. It would be better to get more time for AB and Fave. I'm not worried about Kanter, he's a bit of a project. And one I can believe in unlike the great Fes experiment. Corbs is a little quick to bring out the hook on the youngn's.
But it seems to me quite harsh to be calling for the guy's head already. This team plays hard and is pretty tight-knit from everything I can read. The supposed mini-mutinies from Bell and Watson were short lived and overblown. Bell, I noticed was with the team for this game even though he is out indefinitely. Howard too. It means something to see the players buying in and rooting each other on even when they can't play.
I think overall Corbs is doing pretty good considering the expectations before the season. Some of what I read above looked like venting over the guy just not doing what you want. The young players are improving, especially DFave. He looks way better. Al is playing the best ball of his life although he still has his warts. Most people would have told me he was a finished product after last season. Hayward has been fantastic. Don't see how that equals the worst developing coach in the league.
As a Browns fan I can tell you the gratification of getting your guy fired is very short lived when you find out the next guy sucks too. I doubt there is a line of HOF coaches at KOCs door. Don't give up on a Coach who can keep all these players on the same page and playing hard for each other.
