Donnie Walsh...the return?

Post#1 » by Miller4ever » Fri Apr 6, 2012 9:37 pm

Apparently Walsh is looking for a job, and our name has come up. If Larry leaves, does Donnie come back?

If Bird is not there, I've already said to bring him back. The decisions the Pacers have to make this offseason are monumental ones. If Bird knows he won't see it through (atleast 4 more seasons), he needs to let another GM with a vision for the future assume responsibility.

I have to say I would not be mad if Walsh returned... maybe along with Reggie to show him the ropes, with Reggie taking over when Donnie decides (once again) to call it quits.

There is no evidence that Reggie will be a good front office guy, at all. I think he like broadcasting and media more.

I said nothing about evidence that he would be good or bad in the front office. If Reggie wants the job and was willing to learn what it takes, he may be a good fit considering his past and current good relationship with the Pacers and Indy in general.

You "think" he likes what he is doing now more so than a job he has never had? You must be great friends with Reggie Miller to know that.

He's a California guy who enjoys the Hollywood goings-on. I "think" and I don't "know" so that's an appropriate word. Dude was born and raised in Riverside, and went to UCLA, spent an amazing time in Indiana while his offseasons were mostly spent back in California.

We fans in Indy hardly hear a peep out of him anymore.

Color me in the group that says that we need a guy who's planning on being here for 5 years or more. None of this, "waiting out retirement" or "dual-GM" business. If Larry isn't interested in sticking around, I think I'd rather see Pritchard or Morway take over, if not a fresh outside look around the NBA rather than bringing Donnie back.

Love Donnie, but it just may not be best to hand it all back over to him.

Some of the worst personnel decisions in this team's history were made during the period of time that Larry was being trained by Donnie. So, no to a Walsh/Miller management team. Also, there comes a time when old guys need to give it up. I'd much rather see a Pritchard/Morway team running things.
