I miss (Fighter X) because.....
I really miss BJ Penn right now.
Sometimes he annoys me and I wish he'd work on his conditioning a lot more, but I'm not sure there is a more game fighter in the ranks. His walkouts are epic, his fighting style is so entertaining and he's a little beast.
Please keep this going if you have a fighter that's not around at present that you'd love to see fight again.

Since I'm his biggest defender/nuthugger on the site I guess I might as well get this one out of the way.
I really miss Fedor Emelianenko.
He really annoys me with how passive he is towards his career. M-1 Global has run his reputation into the ground and now they have all but run his career into the ground as well. What's more at his age he still has a window to turn things around but he doesn't have the same killer instinct outside the cage as he does in the cage. But he's the best heavyweight in the brief history of the sport, is one of the most consistently exciting fighters out there and always goes for the finish if he can get it. Plus it is awesome how a pudgy little guy was able to dominant giants. It gave the everyman something to shoot for.

Agreed with the first two, and I'll add Brock Lesnar and Rampage.
Say what you will about Brock, but his fights were something to look forward to. They were events. I like having a bit of buzz around an upcoming UFC and my casual fan friends asking me questions, where/when to watch, etc.
And Rampage, who retired in 2008 and just hasn't told anybody yet.

People here suck. This is an awesome thread.
I really miss Kazaushi Sakuraba. The guy was a flabby middleweight but he never cared about who he fought. The guy fought the best of the best and was single handedly the most exciting fighter ever. You just never knew what the guy was going to do. Double karate chops while in his opponents guard. Cartwheeling onto the face of his opponents. I think his name means awesome in Japanese.

My issue is that I got into the sport within the last several years, so most of the guys I kind of "grew up on" are still fighting. I could reminisce about guys I have watched in my old pride/ufc dvds that are no longer around, but idk, seems kind of weird.

I feel the same, got into the sport in 2007.

I miss Chuck Liddell. Every time he fought you just knew something awesome was going to happen. His walkouts were the best.

Ditto, 2007.
Although I kinda miss Brock already...

Which walkout did you like better, the one where he had that look in his eye, or the 19 others where he had that look in his eye?

The combination of his intensity in the walkout and his crazy power just made you know someone was about to get hurt every time he came out.

Re: I miss (Fighter X) because.....
There are a ton of retired guys I'd like to see back as they were in their prime, but I figured this thread was about guys who could still fight and just don't, for some reason.

I'll miss Chael after June 23rd.
Nick Diaz too, if he's serious about retiring.

Re: I miss (Fighter X) because.....
If it were against any other MW but Anderson, I'd be rooting for him. I love the guy, but I'll admit that I'm probably gonna enjoy seeing him get KTFO in June.
On the flip side, as much as I love Anderson, it would be something to see Chael win the title in Brazil...

How can anyone not be rooting for Chael? If he beats Anderson for the title in Brazil, when Joe Rogan puts that microphone in Chael's face, it will be the most riveting moment in UFC history.

Re: I miss (Fighter X) because.....
Brock for sure.
The UFC only had three fighters that could turn a PPV into an event and he was number 1. It became a kind of spectacle. Even non UFC fans would be talking about the upcoming fight. Usually I only heard that with GSP.
Which brings me to my 2nd guy...GSP. His absence has been huge.
The UFC lost Brock, now it only has 3 marquee names and Bones is still not household even if he is becoming a legend in his own right. Must see PPVs, where I go out with friends and watch have Brock, GSP, Silva or Jones in them. Without two of those 4, you can really feel the difference.

And you just as easily ask, how can you like Chael
, I always found the comments he made about Silva's wife and other things hes done so damn annoying, but I am a huge Silva nut hugger
. I really miss Cro-cop.
