So when is his season over? I can't wait for him to start training with the Raptors.

He's going to train with his national team this summer and go to London Olympics, if his team qualifies.

Still, he will absolutely have to bulk up - or add a fair bit of strength - to defend the post against seven footers. This wouldn't be as obvious against college centers, but it's clear in Europe.

His season goes into May with the Lithuanian playoffs, then a break, then his NT. We'll see him after Lithuania plays its last game of Olympic competition, whether that's in the qualifying tournament or the Olympics themselves.

Listen, Ed Davis got hurt in a pickup game here in Toronto. You can't control these things.

Highlights from the game:

Day 1 of 1/8 Finals. Lokomotiv and Lietuvos Rytas earn wins

Lokomotiv - Zalgiris 72-44

Lokomotiv earned the first win in the eighth-final series versus Zalgiris. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-44. Lokomotiv dominated on the defensive end, holding Zalgiris to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). French center Ali Traore (207-85, college: S.Idaho JC, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Paulius Jankunas (205-84, agency: Interperformances) answered with 4 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Mantas Kalnietis (196-86, agency: Interperformances) added 6 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Zalgiris. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
Top scorers:
Zalgiris: D.Salenga 7+3reb, R.Javtokas 7+5reb, T.Delininkaitis 7+3reb+2ast, M.Kalnietis 6+5reb+2ast, M.Kuzminskas 4+3reb, M.Popovic 4+1ast
Lokomotiv: K.Rivers 21+9reb, A.Traore 13+6reb, J.Massey 9+6reb+1ast, V.Ilievski 7+2reb+2ast, N.Shabalkin 5, R.Blakney 5+4reb+5ast

N.Novgorod - Lietuvos rytas 60-64

Lietyvos Rytas eked out a tough road win over Nizhny Novgorod to surge ahead 1-0 in the best-of-three series. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Nizhny Novgorod won third quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietuvos rytas made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Center Jonas Valanciunas (210-92) stepped up and scored 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and Lithuanian guard Renaldas Seibutis (195-85) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side Semen Antonov (202-89, agency: RU-Basket Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Slovenian power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Top scorers:
N.Novgorod: S.Antonov 18+11reb+3ast, P.Brezec 15+9reb+1ast, I.Paunic 12+5reb+2ast, D.Golovin 5+2reb+1ast, F.Klyuchnikov 3+1ast, I.Savelyev 3+2reb+2ast

I don't know if it was deliberate, but he arched his body away from the three point shooter and used his length to block the shot. Unusual blocking style.

Something to do with being very afraid of fouling the shooter, I think.

It's a shame Brad Newley didn't develop like his mate Jonas. Drafted by the Rockets and then... nothing lol.

I think he's even regressed. He was an athletic mofo when he was younger.

nah, he never quite developed enough past being athletic and a streaky shooter to make it worth his while in the NBA imo. There was talk of bringing him over a few years ago I believe but I think Chase Budinger stole his thunder.
