I don't expect much lottery help tonight. The Nets are playing the Cavs, who have been a disaster since the trade deadline, so the Nets probably get this.

As for the teams around the Nets, Detroit is playing Miami, Toronto is playing OKC and the Kings are playing Houston. That's rough.

After tonight's game NJ's remaining schedule includes 3 games against Philadelphia,
Boston, Miami and the Bucks. They do have 1 really winnable game against the
Raptors but that game will be on the road and the last game of their season.

Curious the schedule makers in this condensed season, make two teams play each
other three times within the space of three weeks.

Here is what's left for the Nets.

vs CLE
vs PHI
@ PHI
vs BOS (2nd of B2B)
vs MIA
vs NYK
@ MIL
vs PHI
@ TOR

They're tied in the CLE game right now with a few minutes left in the game, so that's a tossup.

That's a pretty rough schedule. Crazy that they get Philly 3 times in one month. A lot of home games, but some really tough competition and Wallace went down the a strained hammy. Not sure how long that may take him to recover from.

I can see three losses to Philly, to Boston, to Miami - toss up with New York and Toronto, and probably a loss to Milwaukee.

Hopefully they'll slot nice into that 4-5-6 slot.

Its frustrating seeing the Nets suddenly go .500 in the last 10 games (about to win another) while Cleveland went 1-9 (soon to be 1-10) over that same stretch to drop below the Nets. Meanwhile, T-Wolves have gone into epic tank mode to drop below the Blazers. In about 2 weeks span, we went from slotted for the 4th and 10th pick to the 6-7th and 12th pick. Raptors may very well drop below the Nets too.

It's possible that the Nets don't win another game this year and in a couple weeks we will be worried about them losing too much. Meanwhile, the Blazers are 11th, not 12th. And I suspect they will stay 11th.

It'll be interesting to see if they shut down Wallace after his hammy injury. Those can be pretty nagging issues.

I just noticed that new orleans and us have 2 picks this year (assuming we get nets obviously).

this reminds me of the summer where the two teams were being compared since they had similar draft positions. new orleans went with chris paul and jr smith. portland went with telfair and webster. all 4 aren't with their respective teams anymore. since that draft, portland is on their second rebuild and new orleans is technically on their first.

3-4 years from now, i'd like to revisit this again and pray portland gets the better end of the draft. just random thought.

yep...right now it's Portland at #7 & #11, Utah at #9 & #13; and NOH at #3 & #10

Utah is in pretty good shape for years. The Blazers could be in good shape for years but I fear Paul Allen is going to mortgage the future in some misguided win-now strategy

It would be nice if they could grab another lottery pick and have 3 lotto picks!!! I'm still curious though to see who they're going to turn those picks into cuz we keep hearing they plan to trade the picks for a player.

Unless the win now strategy includes trading one or both picks for mediocre stablished talent i don't see anything wrong with it.

Utah only has two picks if Golden State finishes out of the top seven. Golden State gets their pick back if they finish 1-7. Apparently their owner said they're already talking to Utah for a way for them to get their pick back anyways if they land out of the top 7.

For what its worth there was an article on Oregonlive where Lamarcus said he would not mind a rebuild. His logic seems to be a rebuild would not take that long and that he says he is not quite into his prime yet, so getting some young players up to speed with the current core would be fine by him.

With that said, its clear that Paul Allen will go Plan A = get another high quality established all star to pair with Aldridge; and Plan B - get the BPA(s) via Free Agency and the Draft and "rebuild".

I can agree with that strategy, so long as Portland doesn't waste so much time waiting on a star player that they miss out on free agents that could be instrumental players to the long term success of this team.

Couple of games to watch tonight. Charlotte @ Cleveland, Philly @ New Jersey and to a lesser extent Sacramento @ Dallas.

Charlotte and Cleveland are at the half, Cleveland only has a 4pt lead. The Cavs have been doing their best Bobcats impression lately, so this could stay close for awhile.

Philly and Jersey are at the 9 min mark in the 2nd, Philly only up by 2. Crash is out for the Nets with a strained hammy, it'll be interesting to see how long he ends up staying out. Philly has been inconsistent since their hot start to the season, so who knows how that game may go.

Not holding out much hope for the Kings in Dallas.

EDIT: Good news thus far. Only 2 min and some change left in the Cavs vs Cats game. Cavs have taken control and are up by 12. So barring some catastrophe, they should hold on to win that. Shouldn't be much worry about the Bobcats making some crazy comeback. EDIT EDIT: Cavs get the win.

Philly and Jersey still has some considerable time left, Philly is up by 9, so, who knows yet.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Philly has pulled away considerably in the 3rd. They're up by 16 going into the 4th.

Kings are hanging tough with Dallas, but it's only the half.

Really weird the Nets/Sixers play three times in the last 10 games of the season.

Sixers won tonight but beating any team 3 times in a short period of time is really
difficult.

Would have been nice if Sac won too, but that was a pretty tall order.

Cleveland has a REALLY tough finish to the season. They really only have 3 games that could/should be wins, 2 against the Wizz and 1 against the Pisstons. Every other game the Cavs have are against playoff teams. Indy twice, Orlando, New York, Memphis, San Antonio, Chicago and Philly. And of their final games 6 are roads and 5 are home. It'll be shocking if they get enough wins to end with a better record than the Nets.

Toronto also has a really tough finish. 6 playoff quality teams, only 2 bottom dwellers. Philly, Boston, Atlanta (x2), Miami and Milwaukee are the the playoff quality teams, Detroit and Jersey are the bottom dwellers. Half and half for the home and roadies. I think they go 2-6. It's gonna be tough for them to end with more wins than the Nets.

The Nets have a equally tough finish coming up, but if the Raps go 2 and 6, the Nets would have to only get 1 win for the rest of the season, and it would still be a tie.

It's gonna be a crazy end to the season for these teams, but I still can't imagine the Nets ending ahead of #7. That is unless they are able to tie with some of these teams, then it will come down to the tie-breakers.

Only 2 games besides the Blazer game with lottery positioning tonight. Raptors lost to Philly already tonight. The Cavs and Pacers are going to OT right now.

Update: Cavs lost their OT game to the Pacers. So no help for the Nets pick tonight.

Actually, I take back what I said, there's also the Timberwolves game tonight. They're currently trailing the Nugs by 11 in the 2nd.
