Brown, telfair...Nash effect

Post#1 » by Sunsdeuce » Tue Apr 10, 2012 3:38 am

Hate to say this but telfair and brown are actually playing really good TEAM basketball.

Telfair; playing as smart as he is capable of. Passing the ball!!! Taking alittle smarter shots. Seeing less and less streetball. I hated this guy the first half of the season. Looks as though Nash really has had a positive effect on him.
May have o consider resigning, of course at very cheap!

Brown; playing smart pick and pop basketball instead of this one on one Kobe crap that destroys team chemistry. Actually waiting for open shots. Is starting to understand where to be for good open shots. Understanding Nash will find him. Last 8 games averaging 17 points a game without chucking up a 100 shots ie Kobe. Shows playing with Kobe you learn bad habits that takes time to unteach.
Should consider resigning only if at fair price.

That said, I don't see price, lopez back next season. Hard decision for Sarver. Who
To amnesty chilly or hak. One had to go.

I agree ... the Nash and Hill effect is huge. They are such great mentors for the young players. I think Redd is also a great role model for the young bench.

Actually I think the Suns have Telfair signed for $1.5M next year.

I am talking about leadership material. Two (and three if you count Redd) responsible adults who the young bench players can emulate. No gangster crap, no tatoos, no arrest records, no acting like a prima donnas, etc.

Redd, Hill, and Nash are all upstanding basketball veterans and citizens who can shape these young players. They do it by action both on and off the court.

Dont forget Redd. Once a superstar, always a superstar.

He leads the second unit by example.... has turned into the number one scoring option off the bench for us, and I love it.

Isn't Telfair signed for next season? He has a team option right? That means he'll be here next season.

I hope we amnesty Hak not Childress. And Brown is really starting to come along...if we offer Gordon big $$$ and he declines and then offers Courtney Lee decent $$ and he declines then I wouldn't mind us resigning Brown to a long term deal.

kat von d and jesse james ... upstanding, high character individuals I want my children to emulate!

Okay ... I generalized. Certainly there are some high character folks out there with tats. For example, I really appreciated the fact that Derrick Rose didn't do that stupid dance at the all-star game like LeBron, Dwight, and Dwade. Look ... it's mostly a matter of maturity and Rose is already leaps and bounds ahead of the other three who still act like high schoolers. The Dwight debacle with the Magic is just another example. He should have just shut his mouth and played basket. A signed contract is just that. Honor it until is over and then find a different team to play with. Dragging it through the media and bringing down your teammates and coach is certainly not an example of leadership characteristics.

I'm really liking Redd's leadership and scoring off the bench, something we haven't really had since Barbs

I think Brown might be securing himself an MLE type level raise, something like $25m over 5, which to me, is too much...In saying that, I'd consider re-signing him for $10m over 2yrs...He could very well be an 18-20pt scorer if the volume is there

I prefer to call it the Gentry effect since Nash isnt on the court as the same time as Telfair and Redd usually.

I've had to reevalute bother Brown and Telfair, but I'm not sold that this is who they are. I'd love it to be but it seem suspiciously sudden - what, they just suddenly "got it"?

That said, if they really have figured out how to play the game right, makes our - the FO's - job a lot easier.

No need to run, I love how guys have stepped up, just not sure how to credit Gentry for guys playing at the level they should. I still don't like how Gentry plays a Telfail, Brown, Redd lineup. If you are going to have all those chuckers play, it is better to split them up. And I still really like both Price and Chilldress, and when Hill comes back, Chilldress won't see the court again except from the bench. :(

Telfail has been given every opportunity to fail and succeed, and he has done both on regular stints. Price has consistently made our team better. I have loved watching Chilldress do the little things that make the game work.

The big question will be answered when Hill comes back. Do we run him at the three in the first or second unit? If he is in the first, do we still start Brown, or does Gentry ignore the progress and go with Dudley at the two? I would rather he be with the second unit with Redd at the two.

I am still bummed at how many games we lost this season because of Gentry's stupidity, but if he has learned from all those mistakes, and this surge of better play is all because of him and has nothing to do with the players stepping up, then I will gladly give him credit.

very risky guessing here, and based on still a short streak ... a good streak, for sure, which has kept our playoff dream/nightmare alive, but a short streak nevertheless.

I haven't watched many games lately but highlights and such don't give me the impression Brown is making smart shot selections, even if they are better than they were (which was total crap).

Even in that game where he had huge scoring, he just happened to get the shots in, but took some wild 3's that semeed horrid.

I'll keep my "no way" attitude about resigning them until I have undisputable evidence that they somehow got a brain transplant

So, you base your opinion on highlights? Well, you should start watching some games (because Suns are playing terrific basketball last 2 months), Brown is playing fairly good recently (he is more comfortable with starting unit, I think, while he is much more under control and his athleticism and shooting are valuable for our team).
