Getting into the 2013 playoffs with 3 moves

Here's a few trades I would make to try and get you guys back in the playoffs next year.

-decline QO on Greene
-trade your pick (assuming you don't win lottery), currently 4th overall, for Josh Smith
-trade Fredette + your 2nd (currently 34th) to OKC for Jackson + OKC 1st (currently 29th)
-trade Salmons + OKC 1st (29th) to PHX for Frye
-S+T Thompson for future 2nd
-re-sign T-Will

Your lineup:
1. Jackson (25 mins)
2. Evans (38)
3. Williams (28)
4. Smith (35)
5. Cousins (35)
-------------------
6. Thornton (30)
7. Frye (30)
8. Garcia (25)
9. Thomas (20)
10. Hayes/Whiteside (10)
11. vet min shooter

-Jackson starts because he can defend SGs, and Evans and he would be a decent fit

Guards:
-Evans
-Thornton
-Jackson
-Thomas

Wings:
-Williams
-Garcia
-vet min

Bigs:
-Cousins
-Smith
-Frye
-Hayes/Whiteside

Alternative plan: amnest Hayes, extra cap space to sign a few shooters
-use Thomas as trade bait to land a starting SF who can shoot/defend. Or he may have to be included in the J-Smove deal
-you can always use your MLE on a guy like Battier to start at the 3

That team should definitely compete for a playoff spot. + has a lot of upside.

Thompson for a future second? PASS.
Fredette for Jackson? PASS
Salmons/1st for Frye? PASS. PASS. PASS.

I like everything besides salmons+1st for frye I dont think we need to give that much for him. I also agree we need a 3 that can play some D, but Battier is one of the most overrated players I have ever witness. The only reason I would want him on this team is for his vet leadership and maturity. Other than that his game is right up there on fisher's level LOL.

I'd do a 1st that late with Salmons for Frye. We could probably really use a stretch 4 like that.

Not a fan of Jackson for this team though. And we don't need our starting PG to be able to defend SGs. Not sure at all why that would be a priority.

We could however use one that can defend PGs.

IT is way too small. He'll never be a great defender. He gets schooled by Nate Rob every time their teams face off.

Honestly have no idea either. He looks like one of our best defenders. He's pesky, always frustrating opposite guards, picks them up at half-court, and can actually stay in front. I keep hearing he can get abused in the post but I haven't noticed it being a recurring problem. Guys like Andre Miller can post up most PG's anyway and he's the only one that comes to mind. I just don't know where this idea is coming from.

Although the "eye test" is by no means fool proof.

About getting abused in the post, he's actually the 15th best post defender in the league holding his guys to 26% shooting and forcing them to TOs 17% of the time.

He's also the 60th best ISO defender holding guys to 34.4%, and 74th best PNR defender holding guys to 37%.

He also allows the lowest PPP out of all our guards with 0.84.

On the other hand he's 5'9, so theres no way all of the above is actually true.
