Does Kobe Bryant make every player on the court worse?
Does Kobe Bryant make every player on the court worse than they would be with a more intelligent star guard?
Gasol, Bynum and Artest look a lot better without Bryant. They aren't reactive. They are aggressive. This doesn't mean LA would be far better if Bryant retired. After all, you still need somebody scoring in the backcourt. They would need to sign a shooter. But when you compare Bryant's impact on his teammates to Barkley in Phoenix, Bird in Boston, The Dream in Houston, Malone in Utah, Jordan in Chicago, Magic in LA, those superstars allowed their teammates to play in an aggressive and decisive manner. Those superstars made their teammates confident and better.
I think the Lakers would have been better in the long-term if Boston won that game 7 at LA, because Bryant's typically awful performance (6-24 shooting) would have been analyzed a lot more. Apparently Fisher saved LA by convincing Bryant to settle down with some halftime guidance. And the funny thing is, when Bryant misses all these shots he doesn't even help Bynum's offensive rebounding numbers. Bynum, and everyone else can't get into position to rebound all these misses, because Bryant forces bad and off-balanced shots that LA's interior players cannot read. So not only is it bad shooting, it's cancerous shooting. Nothing good comes from Bryant's abomination if a domination other than the fact that LA have twin towers that are able to win in spite of the cancerous shooting.

Deng actually scored more last season, and Rose played all 82 games.

Because the fact would then be "Bryant's cancerous play cost LA game 7 and the championship" and changes would need to be made. Instead, Boston as unhealthy as they were, faded and the 6-24 was glossed over.

Actually, I think its interesting that in the three games that Kobe has been injured, Bynum was 10 of 27, 7 of 17, and 7 of 20. In other words, from the floor he has been way below his average. Granted three games isn't much of a sample size, but interesting given that Bynum can usually shoot over 50% and averages above 55%.

well then Deng is probably declining. All I know is John Lucas is scoring more so Rose must be a cancer.

Hahahah take away that championship, and we have 0 championships the last 2 years and aren't anymore on our way to another because of " the fact would then be "Bryant's cancerous play cost LA game 7 and the championship" and changes would need to be made"

This season:
Bynum with Kobe: fg 56% without 37%
Pau with Kobe: fg 51% without 47%.
He definitely makes them worse.

Can you name one player who has left the lakers with Kobe and played at a higher level somewhere else?
MAYBE Trevor Ariza? But only because he's playing more minutes.

Ariza, no, but Jordan Farmar, yes. For almost everybody else--Shaq, Odom, Pau, Fisher, Smush Parker, Vujacic, etc., their best years were with the Lakers.

A lot of players owe half of their contracts to Kobe and Phil. So many players fell off the map after leaving the Lakers.
