I'm looking forward to a good year, I expect our record to be so-so, but it's going to be a growing year, and one that can still be exciting.

Fola314, it's nice to have you posting here, and I hope you continue from time to time, but as you can see we have very few posters on this board.

Yea not expecting many posts at all, realgm is primarily a basketball forum. I go to athleticsnation.com for content, but there are always a million comments and I don't like the format for them, so I kinda like it that its less crowded here, but yea if no one posts then oh well.

I kept trying and finally have the Atlanta Braves active. It's only a handful of posters but it's a good feeling since I tried so hard. (damn message board)

Trying to withhold judgement on the offense because its only 7 games in and we've faced Felix twice (And again on Friday), but its been painful to watch. Donaldson at 3B, even if he starts hitting, his defense is awful.

The Rivercats are crushing the ball, but its the PCL so idk. I think this is the season where you give some of these guys like Taylor, Carter, Mitchell or whoever a couple hundred ABs and see what happens cuz we arent winning anything anyway.

Good thing early on, I think Beane got a very good deal for Gio. Milone hopefully will be a solid SP, Norris looks like a potential Suzuki replacement, and Peacock and AJ Cole are good pitching prospects. Cahill deal depends on whether Parker reaches his potential, but Cook looks like a solid setup man, Cowgill doesn't look like he is going to get many ABs. I have a feeling tho that Cahill is going to have a bad season. Gio will be Gio, he'll lead the league in walks but have a low ERA. Bailey deal, uhh yea we won that one, poor guy can never stay healthy.

I like the return for us in the Gio trade as well.

We face Seattle tomorrow. It's going to be a difficult game because we face Felix Hernandez tomorrow.

I hope we win the series this time around.

Colon still has some juice left in that 40 yr old arm. 92-93 mph fastballs. Didn't he do that weird blood spinning thing that ARod and Kobe and some others have done?

Very impressive outing for him.

OAK G. Godfrey (R) vs. SEA B. Beavan (R) today.

Seattle is favored to win only slightly.

So 2-5 vs the Mariners, batting like .200 on the season. Nice. Now for 4 in Anaheim...I may need to revise my 80 win prediction haha. Weaver might throw a perfect game against us tonight.

BTW is there any name that is more annoying than the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? Translated that means The Angels Angels of Anaheim.

I find the name kind of strange.

Currently winning 1-0.

Wow. Angels got Colowned. Its funny cuz with us expectations are so delightfully low that every win is a pleasant surprise, but for Angels fans the expectations are so high.

I'm not even sure what is going on with the Angels, on paper they should be great, but the more I think about it, the more I realize how flawed they are. Scoscia appears to be in love with his veterans so much that Trumbo and Bourjos are getting benched, Abreu and Wells are getting plenty of ABs, and Trout is still in AAA when he is better than most of these guys. They signed Pujols to a 10yr bazillion $ deal, at a position (1B) where they already were strong (Morales, Trumbo). GM has to take a lot of blame as well. The Napoli for Wells deal was awful. They must be drafting terribly, because the Angels minor league hasn't produced any starting pitching in the last several years since Weaver, so they have to go out and sign guys like Wilson to 75mil $ deals. They haven't produced any solid relievers either except Walden, the bullpen is full of free agent veterans and have been terrible outside of Downs. Despite all of this they probably have enough talent to make the wild card.

Anyway, chance to win the series tonight. Milone vs Wilson

1-2 vs the Indians, too bad we couldn't put together any more offense in those games. 3 games at home vs the White Sox next. Colon starts tonight vs Peavy.

Godfrey was sent down. Jarrod Parker will start in his place in a few days.

We host the White Sox tonight. I hope Bartolo Colon can continue to pitch well (3-1).

Crazy game. Good debut from Parker, Balfour blows first save of year in 9th on Konerko solo HR, we made a couple nice defensive plays to keep the game going in extras, White Sox score twice in the top of the 14th, then we get 5 straight hits in the bottom of the 14th including a Cespedes two run shot to win it 5-4.

Back to .500, now the schedule gets tougher. 3 game series @ Baltimore (11-7), 3 more @ Red Sox, and road trip ends with 3 @ Tampa Bay. Hope we can get out of this still near .500.

BTW I'd like to point out:
Cespedes: 4yr, 36 million (8 million a season) .269, 5 HR, 18 RBI, .904 OPS
Pujols: 10 yr, 240 million (24 mil a season), .227, 0 HR, 4 RBI, .603 OPS

Might as well enjoy it while it lasts :)

Jarrod Parker gets the win vs. Boston today. He was held to 98 pitches and we won 5-3.

Let's win the series tomorrow.

Glad to see the fellas beat Boston last night to win the series.

We go on the road next to face Tampa Bay so that won't be an easy task.
