Fire Spolestra or Trade Chris Bosh?
It's interesting that people keep talking about trading Bosh before firing Erik spoelatra.
Let me make my case for why Spoelstra should be fired before attempting to 'reconfigure' Miami's chemistry by trading Bosh.
Firstly: I don't think Spoelatra ever really watched and analyzed Chris Bosh while he played for Toronto. Often i hear this inane nonsense: "Bosh can't create his own offense".. REALLY? Is that why he averaged 24 points off 50% from the floor and went to the line nearly 10 times a game in his final season with the Raptors? Does a slimly built PF go to the line 10 times with his 'open shots' (as Steve Kerr averred, Bosh apparently only scores off hitting open jumpers, and not creating his own offense) or through taking it to the rim? Chris Bosh may be the QUICKEST legit 6'11 athlete the NBA has ever seen, and yet Erik Spoelstra has made scant use of it since Bosh came to Miami.
Now, I will admit that Bosh's poorly considered offseason weight gain has taken a toll on his overall floor speed; his first step is not as quick as it was last year. Notwithstanding that, this can be corrected. Come the offseason (it's dangerous to lose weight during a season schedule, his body could react badly and this is how injuries happen) he can lose the weight and get back to his usual figure.
Miami's offensive philosophy has been built around the quickness and play making abilities of James and Wade. This, by all means, sounds like a sound offensive philosophy, which it is. Problem is, I think Miami would be better served taking advantage of Bosh's low post game. Is this how Miami plays? No.
The vast majority of Chris Bosh's offensive productivity comes off open looks and the rare iso. This has to change. If Miami concentrated their half court offense MORE on Bosh and less on the running around the court of James and Wade, they would be way more succesful. Imagine: Bosh can easily beat most PF's off the dribble (this season may be different for reasons stated above) which makes him a low post threat. With smaller guys, he can back them in and hit the hookshot. Eventually, the defence would make the necessary adjustments to offset Bosh's lowpost threat; this adjustment would lead to doubleteaming him in the low post which open the lanes for James and Wade to take it hard to the rim.
Would this detract from Wade and James' blessed numbers? I don't think it would. Wade and James are most productive on the fast break. The only change I'm suggestng is in their half court ideology. Instead of it being run mostly through James and Wade, it should be run through Bosh - who in his raptor days should a prowess for drawing in defences with his ability to beat PFs/C's off the dribble.
The only explanation for why this strategy hasn't been pursued is Bosh's own timorous nature. He's all about 'team' - and being on a team with two superstars makes your voice smaller than it usually is. So, it remains not Bosh's prerogative to speak up, but for a competent coach to realize the viability of a new offensive approach; to make better use of the existing talent the Heat have.
It would be a shame for the Heat to trade Bosh before getting a Coach who makes better use of Bosh's copious offensive ability.

We don't need to replace Bosh. We just need a solid starting center who can help him on the defensive end. I think if we had signed Samuel Dalembert, we wouldn't struggle that much to protect second points opportunities.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Fire Spo.
See what the new coach or Pat could do with him. If no improvement trade him at the Trade deadline.

Bosh shouldn't have to be told to be more aggressive, just imo

If Spo can change the lineup this late into the season, then Riles can sure as hell change his coaching lineup as well. Fire his ass, Riley!
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Even if we get bounced in the first round Spo isn't getting fired. People need to come to terms with that. He's our coach and for better or worse we're stuck with him. Now Bosh? If we don't make it to the finals this year, sadly I think the front office would seriously look into it.

What?
There's no WAY he DOESN'T get fired if that happens.

I just don't see it. One, who would we replace him with? I doubt Riley wants to coach again, plus he probably wants to avoid all the nonsense that happened when he took over for Stan. Do we go after pringles? The man who doesn't give two ***** about defense? Try and convince Stan to come back after what we did to him(fat change)? Pray to god and hope Phil comes out of retirement and actually agrees to work under Riley? Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.
Edit - Maybe I was being too dramatic with the first round exit stuff. Since that will never happen though...my point still stands.

Re: Fire Spolestra or Trade Chris Bosh?
This is coming from a Raptors fan, I think Miami would be much much better if they used Bosh more often. I just don't like Bosh's role, yeah he is playing behind Wade and Lebron, but Chris Bosh was never a spot up jump shooter. Yet, he averaged 10 FT attempts per game in his Toronto days, he was a beast on the offensive end.
The way to fix everything is simple, wade and bron should take a step back and let Bosh lead the offense, and you will see better results.
IMO Bosh is the best offensive Power Forward in the league, so let him play like one.

Put it like this, the respect level from LeBron and Wade would plummet.the effort level you see now would be 10x worse imo.
I'm positive one of the big 3 would ask Spo to be fired.
Before you move stars you make changes in the coaching staff,I think he'd find someone.

If Pat Riley would keep Spoelstra over Bosh then Pat should be the one getting fired. I'd rather have Mike Brown, and I hated Mike Brown. But at least his Cavs teams played defense properly and won a bunch of games because of it.
@Mirrornick: Bosh isn't better than Dirk offensively. Come on man..

a 24/10 PF when he's the number one option 18/8 as a third option. I don't think Bosh is the issue.

Re: Fire Spolestra or Trade Chris Bosh?
You guys use Bosh primary as a jump shooter or as a bail out option with 2 seconds left on long twos. He can take guys off the dribble, he can lead a floor offense but too often he has to stand back and watch.
He wasn't the problem tonight, he had 20, 8 and 4 blocks on 50% shooting. Everytime Wade is out you see Lebron and Bosh work a great two man game, funny thing is those two in Cleveland would probably have a better record than Miami does right now.
Spo is a joke, fire him before giving up on Bosh. He's just an easy target for other fans and the media.

Mike Brown...is like a Eric Spo clone. Great defensive mind, horrible offensive strategy. That Cavs team won not only because of defense, but because Lebron was surrounded by decent shooters. He thrives on that. The entire team was built around boosting Lebron's strengths.

Dwight would get subsituted for Haslem 5 minutes into every quarter. Eventually made into a jump shooter

Spo has to go.

+1000 its sad to watch possibly one of the best teams of all time be this poorly utilized
