LA Angels (2-4) @ NY Yanks (3-3): Widespread Panic!!!!!!!!!

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Thu Apr 12, 2012 8:53 am

Don't look now but the Yanks brutal April continues with the Angels coming to town. No time to enjoy the sweep over Baltimore to get back to .500. Pujols and the new look Angels are one of six legitimate contenders for the AL this year. Should be interesting....

But remember fellas, keep calm...and carry on.

Match ups:

Santana (0-1) v Kuroda (0-1)

Wilson (1-0) v. Hughes (0-1)

Williams v. Nova (1-0)

I really want to see how Hughes performs. I didn't think he was that bad vs. Rays. There were correctable pitching choices. Fastball pitchers are always prone HRs.

Certainly would love to see another great performance from Nova. I want to be wrong about my paranoia that teams are going to figure this kid out.

Kuroda getting 10M this season to throw batting practice once every 5 starts has gotta stop. Cashman should give Igawa tickets to motivate this guy to pitch on the East Coast. If Darvish's unspectacular start is any indication, it's that Japanese pitchers are not worth double digit million $ salary.

if he tries to get cute trying to paint the corner against pujols then watch out, the fans in left field might need to have helmets on

Kuroda has only pitched one game. You people talk as if we're in the middle of May.

It's all about body language.

Kuroda loves to hold that ball so damn long. That first half inning was 30 minutes long, like most Japanese pitchers they are extremely prone to stolen bases. No, he wasn't throwing to hold Aybar at second. That was just staring at Morales and Pujols after getting them in the hole with two strikes. Just neurotic.

Meanwhile, A-Rod stealing second only to have Cano walk...Tex with two men on, two outs, and the shift on.

Pitching numbers:

Kuroda wasted 19 pitches through 4 batters

Santana wasted 20 getting to six. And no one but Alex got a hit.

Boy, that slider has GRanderson and Jeter hand cuffed today. Usually those two have Santana's a$$ every time.

Kuroda at 43 pitches through 3 innings. He's doing well working the bottom of the order.

Alex has woken up....but it's a solo shot. Still #630....pretty awesome. Though I still don't think he'll pass Ruth. Just too many injuries.

Only a 4 run lead...and it'll be interesting to see how the 4th, 5th, 6th will turn out. Santana may be 4 runs down but he's not too far away from Kuroda in pitch count and his velocity is still there. And at any minute, the Angels can turn this around...

Jeter flashing some glove for the double play...Kuroda really pitched a beautiful inning. Minimizing the damage of Pujols and Morales.
