Charlotte Hornets - The Brand Returns!!!

Don't care what the name is either way. I'd support the Bobcats, Hornets, Flight, Dragons, Manatees, you name it. I still think it's very womanly to be so ultra-concerned with the name and the colors and a rebrand and yadda yadda. Get a better team first, worry about the name second.

I think this is more than a little sexist. I know sports tends to foster sexist phrases and things like that, but it feels pretty out of place here.

I don't care about the name either, like I said before I'd support them if they were the Charlotte Gay Sloths with pink and brown jerseys but I'm a hardcore super fan. One thing this team has struggled mightily with is attracting casual fans and those people are super concerned about identity. So I'm down for whatever's best for the franchise, even if that means changing it to Flight or some other vague WNBA sounding name.

I have mixed feelings about going back to Hornets. I'd just assume rebrand completely over that, I think. I did love the teal and purple though.

Mascot could be a Fighter Pilot, or something along those lines. I actually really like Flight, much better than Bobcats. Bottom line though, we won't be seeing a name change.

85% of voters on a poll in new orleans voted to change the name. that can't be ignored by the franchise.

the hornets are definitely changing their name either this summer or next. i dont think there is any doubt at this point. so the hornets name is going to be available.

NOW, this becomes a real discussion.

i am starting to think the odds of us becoming the hornets again is at least 50%

I agree - with the name and the brand coming available, this has to be enticing to MJ.

And when you think about this from Jordan's perspective, you can see where some of the appeal lies also. Older Charlotteans arent the only ones who have nostalgic feelings of the Hornets era glory days, MJ himself has reminisced on more than one occasion since buying the team about his old battles in Charlotte against the Hornets during the 80s-90s.

A big question will be what kind of return Benson insists on receiving for the Hornets branding once they change the NO branding if Jordan does in fact have interest.

As far as I'm concerned if NO decides to dump the Hornets brand they should have no say in compensation.
