Put it into perspective. Spurs out scored Phoenix in both first half qrts. They were in cruise control in the second half which the big three barely played. The entire fourth was played mostly by our third string unit.

I disagree. You barely out scored us in the 2nd quarter (2 pts) and we basically had no starters out their while your starters closed out the half. Your starters played the 3rd quarter as well. Also, our bench played good against your bench. The point is that if the starters would have showed up this game could have been a lot closer than it actually was.

You fail to realize that the first quarter dictated the rest of the game. When you have a 22 point lead after the first qrt, you don't play with the same intensity and ferocity.
Your "if" hypotetical works both ways. If the Spurs keep their starters in the fourth the Spurs when by double what they won by tonight.

We beat the team we were supposed to beat (Minnesota) and we won the most crucial game of the road trip (the one last night). In the loss against Memphis we had the lead early in the 4th quarter so the only "bad" loss was against the Spurs. I think you have to cut this team some slack considering this was the 7th road game in 10 nights.
Wasn't expecting to win, just wasn't expecting the game to be over after the first 5 minutes. That was pretty sad. And this game should have meant a lot more to Suns players than Spurs players.

Why would they win by double? You kept the starters in the game both in the 2nd and the 3rd quarter and you didn't run away with the game, did you?

I'm sorry that I have to take it here,
You don't. Age is irrelevant when discussing basketball.

but how old are you and did you even watch the game?
The Spurs with their starters and regular rotation killed the Suns. A consistent 25 point lead throughout the first and during the first half of the 3rd qrt. It wasn't until Pop sat the starters and most of the second unit that the Suns made it a "respectable" game score wise. Our third unit out there couldn't hit a damn thing and had so many silly turnovers that lead to scoring opportunities.
Had we decided to leave our regular rotation in through the rest of the game the Spurs would have theoretically kept that 25-27 point lead until the end. Hence the hypothetical end score margin being near double. All I am saying is there are two sides to the hypothetical "if" game you want to play.
But aside from that, what's your point?

Oh, can I play the hypothetical if game? What if Duncan was called for every illegal screen he sets? Do you think he would make it through the first half before fouling out?
And I'm 41 if that is a requirement for playing the what if game.

I shouldn't even bother answering you when you lead off with the bolded part. Anyway, my point is that the Suns' starters killed the our chances to keep this game close, NOT our bench. You even say that if you kept your original rotations the Spurs would have sustained the lead from the first quarter so tell me, how is that a bad thing when it was our bench playing the rest of the game? The bench did, in my mind, do a pretty decent job against your starters and played really well against your 2nd/3rd unit.
Your point about your third unit missing everything is ridiculous. Do you realize that the Suns went 2-16 from 3pt land while you went 9-18? Do you also realize that the Suns had 20 more FG-attempts? You shot 53% for the game so I guess on a normal night you expect the Spurs to shoot 60%? Btw your bench went 14-35 (40%) while the Suns bench went 30-68 (44%) so hardly any difference there. Your bench shot 5-12 from downtown while our bench went 1-12 (!!).

How the bench did was meaningless because the game was already over at that point. The Spurs fan is right. If the sides were reversed and we slaughtered a team and one of their fans praised the bench for keeping it close the rest of the way, we would be laughing so hard at him.

They kicked our ass - they're a great team that consistently finds new players to plug in and an exceptional, HOF coach. let it go.
