The dude is a PG and will often take more shots than Durant in the game. He has the green light all of the time and since Durant gets so much attention he can basically do whatever he wants and not really be chided for it.
The Thunder will need to watch out in the playoffs because they were exposed pretty badly against Miami.
Since Westbrook is never really looking to set up his teammates, the Thunder offense is basically one pass to Durant or Westbrook and then they go iso.
The problem is that Westbrook and Durant aren't really good ballhandlers so when LBJ locks up Durant and Westbrook is supposed to setup the offense and breakdown the defense he can't do it.
I totally agree with VC that Harden is better than Westbrook, because during that MIA game, it was Harden who got the ball, played the PG role, took MIA off the dribble, split double teams, etc. and either took the layup if it was there or passed it to the open man.
To me, it's an embarrassment that so many people are fooled into thinking he's so great because of the numbers. Westbrook gets by on athleticism and he sorely needs develop his game of breaking down the defense and setting up other players before he's considered ahead of the likes of D-Will, CP3, Rose and others.
If you tell any of those other PGs that they can play with the best shooting big guy in the game who will take tons of pressure off of them and that they're number one option is to shoot the ball rather than then setup other players, they'd all put up gaudy stats because it's easy to sit back and shoot at will when you're not required to do what PGs are supposed to do.
He's got talent but he's definitely getting overrated due to his numbers. In his case, stats lie about how "good" he is BIG time. I'd like to see him actually run a team for a full season before he's donned a top 3 PG.
After this, there should be a Top 25 Overrated player list, so I can get something to laugh about after this season is over and next season starts
