Jordan Crawford
Sorry for creating a new thread but I didn't see an Amazingly Sucky Jordan Crawford Thraed. I don't know if everyone here read this but I thought there were come very alarming quotes by Crawford in this article:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wi ... story.html
The areas the troubled me:
1. Being upset that that Nick Young was named starter and most importantly reacting by shooting ridiculously long 3 pt attempts in a game in Atlanta- Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being competitive but don't make excuses about it being Nick's job. If Jordan was playing well, Nick wouldn't have been put back in the lineup. His performance got him benched, not the return of NY.
2. Saying this year has been fun. Nobody on this team outside of possibly Seraphin should say they've enjoyed this years. Its been an embarassment and Crawford is part of that embarassment.
3. Saying its not a bad shot til you miss it. Just clueless. It's amazing how many loq IQ players Ernie can bring onto one team. Crawford just doesn't get it....You would hope that his 40% shooting would do it, but its not enough
The dude is a problem waiting to happen and is a prime example of the entitlement that has plagues this roster in the past. Get him out of here.

Gotta clean house some more with guys like Crawford and Blatche. Can't win without a winning attitude.

I dont blame JC...Flip and Whitman have given him the Green light. Shoot at will without no consequence. I havent seen him get benched once for a bad shot

Yup.
I still don't understand the thought process here. Once Mason and Martin started lighting it up from deep, Wittman had the ability to bench Crawford for boneheadedness. He never did. Now we're stuck with a guy who still has absolutely no conscience when it comes to taking bad shots.

Re: Jordan Crawford
In fairness to Jordan, we should also point out that he acknowledges that he does take bad shots, and that he can and will improve on his shot selection.
And, before saying he was having “fun,” Crawford is quoted as saying he’d prefer that the team was in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Jordan also admits that he didn’t handle his demotion in favor of Nick “the best way” and goes on to say that he’s learned from it.

The problem is do we actually know he's learned from it? How will he react if he's playing behind Beal on openeing night?
And acknowleding bad shots is one thing, improving shot selection is another. The proof is in changing your appraoch to the game. Dray talks every offseason about finally getting it, but when the season starts its the same old out of shape Dray.

It amazes me that they allow for an environment like this to exist, then are shocked when players feel a sense of entitlement. They're their own worst enemy. There is no reason for Crawford to be be given this ultimate green light. He's done nothing to earn it. Why not see if a guy like Almond, Martin, or Mason can outproduce him with the same green light?

I don't think any of us know the answers to your questions. But let's not use Dray's behavior as some sort of yardstick as to how Crawford will act. I prefer to treat people as individuals.

And he damn well should be having fun: he's playing in the NBA, getting all the PT a guy could ask for, not stuck on the bench, with a good group of guys, getting paid serious money compared to working joes. Tempest in a teapot. I don't think this is worth getting lathered up about.

Re: Jordan Crawford
Crawford has a fighting spirit about him. I love his confidence and lack of a conscience. He makes plays that are very exciting.
That said he makes some of the most damaging mistakes out there. His game does not make Wall better. Jordan can be a good sixth man on a veteran team, but I have to say I'm hoping like heck that Morris Almond is the real deal and takes the starting SG spot. No, I'm expecting Almond to demonstrate he is a whole lot better than Jordan Crawford.
Jordan is a young guy and I think he's a good dude, too. I just don't like his shot selection or his game, in general. But, he's better at this point of his career than Morris was. So, that's saying Crawford is not without talent.

Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Re: Jordan Crawford
Jordan Crawford is one of the hardest players to watch play. I can't imagine having to play with dude like that. His shot selection is beyond terrible. I would think his teammates would be ready to kill him considering some of those shots he takes. I honestly want him gone. I wouldn't even want him as a backup.
He's got the talent of a 6th man, but his mindset is of a star. He's basically a young Mike James with delusional aspirations of how good he thinks he is. He should play for Charlotte where he can jack up all the shots he wants.

I did make an Amazingly Sucky Jordan Crawford thread earlier in the year:
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1150366&start=30
Maybe mods can merge this one into that.
I think he'll become a good 6th man, but I definitely don't want him as the future starting SG of this team.

I completely agree. He's like the Antoine Walker of guards. House cleaning won't be complete until Crawdad and Blatche are outta here.

Also, I'd like to see him gone because nothing is more embarrassing than when he drives to the hoop and screams And-1. Hate to say it, but only complete losers scream that when they drive. You'd never see Scal do something like that.

Crawford clearly has some talent. What I'm not sold on is his personality.
As for his shooting. It would be easy to fix if he wasn't to fix it. I spotted his problem a while ago. Just talking about his set jump shot. When he is driving or on the move, he is more reliable.
Here is what it is. He jumps with his wrest more vertical and then he cocks it and then releases. You are never to have a reliable jumper doing that. He shots to much based on feel. That is why he is streaky. To many moving pieces. You can even see his problem at the FT line. He needs to go up with his wrist already cocked and just release. You can't create a repeatable reliable J is you can't reproduce the same motion over and over. His shot has 3 moves to it. You only 2 or 1 depending on how you look at it. Like Mason or Rips J.
A good shooting coach should be able to fix that if he is willing to listen. If he would fix that part of his scoring, he would be a valuable asset on a team. He has some nice driving moves. After that, only thing that keeps me from liking him more as a long term piece is his personality. He just seems like a really weird person. Not getting his vibe. I don't think the refs are either.

Re: Jordan Crawford
The guy's habits are going to be much harder to break than people realize. His approach in the 4th after we tied it up was awful. 3 forced shots in less than 2 minutes. He's a gunner and has no intention of changing based on his actions on the court.
