A first-round pick of the Utah Jazz in 2007, Almond has always been capable of scoring, but has struggled to stick in the league because he hasn't demonstrated an ability to do much else. However, Schroeder notes that Almond has demonstrated more of an all-around game this year for the Red Claws. Almond averaged 23.4 points and six rebounds in 29 games for the Red Claws, all while shooting 46 percent from three-point range. His D-League season ended when the Red Claws were knocked out of the playoffs.

It's a smart move by the Wizards to see if Almond can stick in the league. He certainly has the talent, but just hasn't found the right opportunity or disposition. At age 27, this is likely one of his last opportunities to make it work. Given how weak the Wizards are on the wings, it's a great chance for him. Hopefully, he has learned from his earlier stints in the league.

I'm dancing like this guy.... Not like John Travolta, but more like the coked out guy in this video who looks like he fell into a paint bucket. All three of us are dancing, but only one of us well. :)

I think Kevin Pittsnoggle would also be on that team.

The guy doesn't seem to have many highlight videos online of NBA play. But if you can find some, please share.

I think Kevin Pittsnoggle would also be on that team.

Novak has to be on this team. Scratch DJ Augustine (don't want him, just Charlotte's pick for a crack at Anthony Davis). Put Steph Curry in DJ's place. Also, I would big on Mike Gansey more than his teammate, Pittsnogle. Pittsnogle's a teacher now IIRC, but Gansey was still playing not too long ago.

So, I would roll with a weird lineup of Curry, Almond, Faried, Millsap, and Blair with Novak, Hendricks, and also Marshon Brooks who I really like despite his slump this season.

My draft picks would be Will Barton, Tyler Zeller, and Scott Machado. Crowder will be great but he's not an unknown to many. Kevin Jones would be on my team but we've already got two or three like him.

You left off my starting C: DEMARCUS COUSINS.

PG Curry Machado
SG Almond Brooks
SF Millsap Novak
PF Faried Blair
C Cousins T Zeller

11th and 12th men: Barton and Kevin Jones

Wierd team. I think I like skilled players who are not necessarily athletes.

jivelikenice, here is something that should be useful to tell you more about Almond's game.

Image
Mo Almond has become a more efficient scorer.

Fast-forward to this year. Almond’s still scoring 22.1 points per game (just three fewer than he did in his rookie year, when he put up the two records), but he’s also averaging just 14 shots a game. Back in 2007-08, when he heaved up 666 shots over the course of 34 games with Utah, he was firing up nearly 20 a game.

Somewhere in his travels—he played in Spain (with Real Madrid B.C.), Italy and the Ukraine in the years between leaving the D-League in 2010 and re-signing this January—Morris realized that he’d have to do more to crack into the NBA, which has no shortage of marquee scorers.

This season, he’s rebounding more. More than he ever has, in fact, including 10- and 12-rebound efforts in January (although his numbers have dwindled of late). He’s defending better. And, on the offensive end, he’s making his shots count.

CCJ, Nick Fazekas is on line 2 and he does NOT sound happy.

Basically, he's a much better shooter now and he defends and rebounds better. He is not a jacker like Crawford; but even if he were, Almond makes shots at a good rate.

I just hope he plays with confidence and he's very assertive at both ends without fouls or turnovers. He's pretty much can't miss if he plays his game.

Tell Nick I knew at first glance there was another white dude who belonged on the team and I couldn't recall who. Tell Fazekas my bad. Wow, he and Sessions belong on my team. So does Kelenna Azubuike. I posted about Ramon Sessions when he was at Nevada. I was real disappointed when they came to Hawaii, Fazekas was out injured. I didn't even noticed Javale McGee and he played!

fish, thanks for jarring my memory. I'm overwhelmed today because to be honest, something I thought about a week or two ago--actually woke up from a dream about--came true. I don't want to say too much, but this one is too close to home for me to play off. Let's just say I feel the part of facilitator of a plan from higher than myself, and leave it at that. I'm blown away and not that surprised at the same time.

My team should be: PGs Curry and Sessions. SGs Almond, Brooks, Barton SFs Millsap, Novak, Gansey, PFs Faried, Blair, Cs Cousins, Fazekas

fish, this is exciting. I can't lie, man.

(My twelve-year old son asked "Did they pay you, dad?" :D )

This is it, this could be his last shot to make-it in the NBA. The Wiz offense won't make it any easier. for him.

That is the beauty of it, closg00. He should be the one to make the Wizards' offense flow easier for Wall and everyone else.

I was a fan of him in that draft, I hope he can be a nice knockdown shooter for us for cheap.

For us, a perfect fit,of course of course. He only needed a little time to get his feet under him and yaddayadda yadda excuse, but clearly he was destined for success in this league. Mo Money is the truth, all the haters and doubters now must recognize... Feel free to get on the bandwagon late, it's rolling slow but we'll hit a long sweet slope and start rolling sweet.

Hah, this is hilarious. After hunting down clandestine footage of Rice games years ago to peek at him I somehow feel like we got another lottery pick for free.
Now all he has to do is just totally not suck, and you know, earn a starting job, build his career here. A nice guy though, the media will love him. On court: even if he were Nick Young without the stupid...that's not bad right? And maybe he's developed the rest of his game?

As I recall though he had a decent low-post game, high 2pt% for a wing player. Will have to track him down and see what he's been up to now...
