For the idiots that thought Melo was "blowing by" LeBron early, that was the point of the defense.

Yea it was obvious, I called it on the GB when they kept sending him baseline to the help
It's the same thing the bulls do, only they have Noah helping...and not Bosh...

I been trying to tell ya, Melo was falling exactly for what the Heat wanted him to do
Stop being so disrespectful.

Re: Breakdown of the Heat's defense vs. Carmelo
Part of why I wouldn't mind the Knicks in the first round. Everything it is natural for the Knicks to do, isos and pick and rolls, are pretty much the strength of what the Heat do defensively. They don't run much off the ball action, or swing the ball side to side to expose our over helping(like the Mavs did).
It's also why the Knicks would get pasted by the Bulls if they play them in the first round. Thibs system is built around stopping exactly what the knicks want to do.
We get into that rut too offensively sometimes of isos and pick and rolls. But we do pass the ball around a lot more and when we do that we're unbeatable. When we are moving the ball side to side, and probing the paint, with Wade, Bosh, or Lebron cutting weakside with our shooters flairing to the corners--we're indefensible. We're going to get an open shot and the defense just has to pick the best poison.
That's why I really hope this year in the playoffs we get one of our shooters, Battier, Jones, or Miller to be on a serious hot streak in those corners, because we will absolutely paste these teams if we can get that kind of floor balance and spacing. Provided the big three all show up, which I'm 2/3rds sure about(as I'm sure everyone else is)

I just hope that if we play them in the playoffs we never put Battier on him. Melo made Battier look like James Jones out there. It was insane.

Weak article. Melo taking bad shots has more to do with a) little time on the clock, b) frustration that other guys kept missing shots. Melo takes those sort of 3s often. The only difference, is Lebron fronted better than he did in the first half.

Did you read the article thoroughly? Carmelo also shot a 3 with 17 seconds left... not sure about the whole "little time on the clock" part for that 3.
That's the whole point though... LeBron played Carmelo 1vs1 more so in the 4th than the whole game. Before it was the Heat defense letting him do whatever and trying to make it tough for him (but Carmelo is obviously a good scorer), then it went to 1vs1.
LeBron said something about having to wear down Carmelo, and apparently it worked because Carmelo looked absolutely gassed at the end.
It'd be different if Amare comes back obviously. And yes LeBron did front Carmelo better, thus wearing him down even more having to fight for the ball.

You most definitely didn't read the article. Has nothing to do with anything you referenced in that post.

No point in opening the thread or even opening the link if you didn't read the article.

I love the idea of forcing someone towards the baseline, especially when that player doesn't have the natural instinct to try to find an open teammate.
