Would you guys be interested in a Josh Smith Andre Iguodala Swap? Assuming you draft a big to play alongside Horford you can have a pretty good lineup, Were loaded at the wing position and need at least one big man who can actually be considered a viable starter.
Iguodala would beable to shut down the best wing night in and night out, giving Johnson more energy at the offensive end. His unselfish play would fit in great alongside scoring guards like Johnson and Teague.
If not for Iggy straight up, I feel Iggy, Thaddeus Young for Josh Smith and Marvin Williams would be more than fair..looking for opinions on both options, be honest would you do both?
C. Tyler Zeller
F. Al Horford

G. Joe Johnson

Re: Iguodala
With Marvin going I'd be very tempted but honestly would only do it if Josh said he's definitely not gonna resign or demands a trade

Re: Iguodala
It's appealing seeing as there are amazingly more all star wings in the East than they are bigs and Joe has faltered a bit from his defensive perches. Having a duo plus Marv to check Bron/Wade/Melo/Granger/George/Allen/Pierce/Stuckey/Ellis/Deng in the playoffs isn't a bad haul but they share nearly identical contract situations with Smoove being a FA in 2013 and Iggy having an ETO.

Re: Iguodala
Iggy is intriguing defensively but I would much rather put Josh at the 3 and get another big that now help protect him when he gets beat like everyone does than get Iggy who does nothing for that. Everyone gets beat Iggy included. Not everyone can protect the rim. Even at the 3, I think Josh could get a block or two.

Josh has already confirmed that those rumors are not true.

Re: Iguodala
Andre Iguodala is a very good player especially defensively, but he's not what we'd be looking for in a Josh Smith trade. Andre makes the same or more than Josh and is under contract for 1 season longer. That doesn't work for us financially. If we were to deal Josh Smith the goal would be to get multiple less expensive pieces back, not a 1 for 1 swap. The secondary goal would be to dump Marvin Williams salary in the move. Ideally we don't want to invest more in a SF because of the reality that Joe Johnson will be spending more minutes there as he plays out his unmovable contract.
If Josh is still unhappy in the offseason I'm sure he'll be dealt but it would likely be for a combination of a rookie deal player and pick and contract filler for cap purposes. For a Philadelphia deal, it might be Thaddeus Young, 2012 1st round pick and filler to make the cap work, but it's hard to get the math right between our two teams.

What if it was Andre Iguodala and Elton Brands 18million expiring deal and a 2013 first for Smith and Williams. (Zaza too if the money doesnt add up) Brand could actually be a half decent backup big man and would give you huge cap flexibility for a run at Dwight that summer. If you target a big like Zeller or Arnett Moultrie in the draft you would beable to maybe even offer a half decent package to Orlando like Horford, and expiring contract and the 2 first rounders you would have.

Really?!?
I was under the impression that this 100% correct and that Josh's people had leaked the information to MC at the AJC to put more pressure on ownership.
I recall him saying he ws focused on the Hawks and the post-season, but not denying the rumor altogether.
The way he's played of late, he deserves to play for a real franchise that is commited to winning and not to the sideshow that is the Atlanta Hawks under Sund and the Atlanta Spirit.

Re: Iguodala
He gave the typical double talk you see from guys in his situation. The committal/non-committal. It wasn't even Gearon that came out and had to say it was false at first it was the fall guy Levenson of all people before Josh finally addressed the year long rumors.

The inclusion of Brand makes the incoming salaries sky-rocket for that 1 season (7 million difference with Zaza included). That is a deal breaker for the Hawks ownership (they sold a 2nd rounder to pay for a million dollar luxury tax bill). They aren't going to bite the bullet on 7M more in salaries. The 2013 1st wouldn't be enough for that kind of financial relief. A deep pocketed owner might be willing to do such a deal with 2 1st rounders in it, but we're not that team.
