As a Memphis fan, I really like the way yall's team is built but I have always wondered why Jazz management has has had a fascination with CJ Miles for years on end?

He seems extremely inconsistent and hasn't really improved really at all since like his 3rd year in the league. He seems to play the exact same as he always has but he keeps getting PT for years on end. He is like Travis Outlaw in some regards as a highly touted HS project but not a good basketball player when it comes down to it

Maybe the Jazz thought they could develop him into a modern day Jeff Malone who was athletic or something? I have never seen a scrub get such a long window to develop and not come through.
Seems like yall have felt this way even since 09 according to this thread lol

Also glad you guys got Carroll, he was on our team but we had like 4 guys who could play the 3 already in Gay,Sam Young,Xavier Henry, then finally Carrol who we basically gave away him and Beet to Houston to rent Shane Battier, We turned all those guys into basically Poindexter and Speights which I guess is ok to an extent. However, Carrol is a better fit with yall's team when it comes down to it and I hope he continues to do well. BTW, yalls current jerseys and logo is one of the best in the league right now IMHO. Only thing I disagreed with lately that the Jazz have done is not trading up for Kemba Walker.

So if you listen to the Locke podcast he did last week with Phil Johnson and Kevin O'Conner at around the 51 minute mark it sounds like he says "and now we've got him under contract for next year." Now it is kind of hard to tell if that is what he said or not. Also the espn trade machine shows him as a 2 year contract, no idea how accurate that is.

Not sure I want Carroll playing major minutes in the future but 10 - 20mins a night as a back up 3 sounds good to me, better hustle then CJ or Josh gave most nights, with out the need to jack up shots on the other end. The hustle is a great thing to have even if a guy does not play alot it can spread and make others work harder.

Thanks for the thoughts, NiqtheAntiq!

I think this is a tough debate. I don't know if everyone would share my opinion but i felt like Howard (as a starter) and Carroll both fit that scrappy, "junkyard dog" role to the Jazz, which is important.

Howard is the better scorer and has a bit more length, while Carroll plays a little more in control (passes and handles the ball better) and seems a tad stronger. They seem like comparable shooters to me, both are kind of streaky.

Note that I feel Howard played a lot differently as a starter then on the bench. As a starter he seemed to blend in more and go for the hustle plays, while as a bench player he tried to play as a go-to scorer. That's what it looked like to me, at least.

This debate is no debate. Carroll. He seems to be improving. Shoots a lot better and uses the ball a lot less than Howard. He's a perfect complimentary player. Finally a role player who doesn't care about jacking shots

howard. Waaaay more talented, even older, if he has the right attitude is a good player. Ak47's a better pick (but he has earns a lot more).
