Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'd take Barnes with the Utah pick.

We split there. I still think he's a top 3 player in the draft. Hate has gone way over board. Everyone overrates freshman and underrates sophomores.

i wouldn't even take him as an undrafted free agent, for zero salary, and he offered to pay all his own travel expenses and provide his own uniform, and as special 16th player on the roster exception thats only valid for players named Harrison Barnes...because I'm a HATER

I'd have to think about it. He can't create offense for himself at all because he has a slow first step and weak ball handling ability, he can hit shots, but he's not really a great shooter, he's a smart defender but doesn't project to be a lockdown guy, he's not a guy who will get you a ton of blocks, steals, or rebounds, and he's got fairly average physical tools for the NBA. Also, his focus on becoming a "brand" makes me question his mentality. He's basically a younger, higher BBIQ version of Wes Johnson at this point.

It's hard for me to ignore that despite having the best passing PG and one of the best front courts in college basketball, he was still never really more than average, and when Marshall was out, he completely fell apart.

I agree to a point, but he'd at least make for some solid trade bait

i agree largely with this...i haven't seen a bunch of him but wes definitely sneaks in there a bit when i think of him as well. from what i've seen he can't(or refuses) to get to the rim(like wes) therefore is pretty much completely jump shot reliant(like wes)...sure he's a better shooter but thats not saying much. i don't see him being very good in the least in the nba and i think he's very one dimensional...i'm no scout and i haven't seen much of him but i just don't like him as a prospect personally, certainly not for this team.

That's actually what I though after writing that up. Saying that that I wouldn't take him with the 16th pick is a bit too much, but I don't think that I'd draft him to keep him.

Adelman has played Williams mostly at power forward this season because Williams, at 240 pounds, has struggled to defend small forwards out on the floor.

That's why he aims this summer to sculpt his body by dropping at least 10 pounds so the same guy who weighed as much as 250 pounds when he played college ball at Arizona comes to camp next fall at 225 or 230.

"Coming into camp, I want to be in the best shape possible," Williams said. "Getting down to 230 is not a problem. That just comes down to the determination of trying to get there. I don't think it's that hard, honestly. At Arizona, they wanted me to be a little heavier because I was guarding bigger guys. Here, you've got to be able to guard a 3 if you're going play the 3. I want to slim down and get my agility back a little more."

Adelman wants Williams to both slim down and toughen up around the basket, a possible contradiction Adelman says is possible because Love did it.

"I'd like to see him do what Kevin did, so he's much more active," Adelman said. "Even at power forward he becomes a factor then, too. Unless it's a big, physical guy, he has got the skills to do it. Players have to learn that when they come into the league. They have to find there are other ways to do it, and Kevin's a real case in point: He lost that weight, got himself into great shape and had a great year."

Williams worked out with his own trainers most of last summer because of the labor lockout that hit July 1. This summer, he said he will be back and forth from Los Angeles, working out periodically under the supervision of Wolves coaches for instruction and development he never received a year ago.

"We need him to really make great strides, as well as some other guys," Adelman said, without specifically referring to former No. 4 overall pick Wes Johnson. "If you can't do it [improve the team] in free agency, if you can't do it with trades, then you need to do it with the people you have on your team right now. That's what we have to evaluate and figure out. Do we have that?"

If he's able to be a SF, I can see him being a Shawn Marion kind of player, and this is good, but I doubt that he'll be able to, so I would try to make a trade with him as a piece...maybe trying to grab... Josh Smith? Stuckey? Ellis? Thornton? Ibaka? Nenê?

Josh Smith - Not a wing.

Stuckey- Poor value.

Ellis - Undersized and inefficient.

Thornton - Marcus? If so, terrible value.

Ibaka - Not a wing, and OKC would probably say no.

Nene - Not a wing.

Three guys I'd be looking at are Michael Kidd-Gilchrist , Bradley Beal, and Andre Iguodala in that order.

While you're at it I suggest trying to trade Ellington for Wade
