Tonight, Denver or Phoenix?

Post#1 » by FJS » Sat Apr 21, 2012 4:04 pm

Denver 34-28 (Road: 15-15) 5:30pm ET

Phoenix 33-30 (Home: 19-12) TV: ESPN, FSAZ

I think, if we are confident we will win every game, it's better to us to see Suns winning.

Denver has to play @ OKC, and if we win all 3 games (includins suns at home) we'll be 7th if nuggets lose.

the difference between 8 and 7 is not as great as the difference between 7 and 6.

The problem is Dallas is one win to secure his way to the 6th position.

Denver. We still have to play Phoenix, if they manage to win tonight, we HAVE to beat Phoenix, and really we have struggled against Phoenix this year.

We need PHX to win. If Denver loses this and the OKC game, that will give us a better chance at 7th. I think OKC will be 2 and we will have a better chance of winning a game against OKC than we will against SA.

PHX holds the tie breaker against us. So even if they lose tonight, we would still have to beat them or hope that they lose another game. Like us, PHX also holds their own fate in their hands.

Basically,

If you want Denver to win, you want Utah in the playoffs.
If you want Phoenix to win, you want Utah in the lotto.
Jazz on your face.

We want Denver.

If Denver wins, it's still possible to make the playoffs even if we lose to Phoenix providing the Suns lose to SA the last game of the season, and we win our other two.

The Suns game is terrifying IMO, we can't guard the pick and roll, and we're playing a veteran team with the best clutch PG of the past 10 years who knows how to pick us apart. Tha game is going to be an absolute battle.

Denver loses out, or ends in 3 way tie with us and Phx they're the one who misses right? After PHX won against the Clipps out margin for error disappeared completely.

I think the important thing is we have a tough game vs. a playoff team tonight. So you have to root for Denver considering tonight is sure as hell not a guaranteed win. Phoenix has the tiebreaker over us so it's important that they lose.

If Phoenix wins then Denver can end up in 9th so it's not like it changes the landscape that much. The Jazz just need a great game against Phoenix. I think Jamaal Tinsly's defense is the key in that game.

I wanted Phoenix to win, but not because I wanted Utah in the lotto.

I wanted the Jazz to get the 7th seed and play the Thunder, who they match up against infinitely better than the Spurs. I also want the Jazz to earn their damn spot in the playoffs, not backdoor their way in.

Denver still has to play OKC. That could put the Nuggets in 8th and the Thunder in first. So it's still Spurs.

For the Spurs to get #2, the Spurs would have to drop two games in a very easy finishing schedule, and OKC would have to win out. It's pretty much not happening.

For the Nuggets to finish 8th, they'd have to lose at OKC (probable) and vs Orlando or at Minnesota (doubtful).

Oh, and the Jazz would have to win out anyways.

That is all why I wanted Phoenix to win today.

I know I'm weighing in after the games, but I really feel that getting the 8 seed is better than the 7. It looks like SAS are going to be the #1 seed, and I'm not saying we will beat them, but I feel we have a better chance against them than OKC. Then, looking at the 2nd round, we would have better matchups there playing the Clippers or Memphis. I think that would work better for the Jazz than playing LAL or DAL.
