I was about to be outraged that Bynum was mentioned, but then I thought about it...he really has been a monster this year, probably does deserve top 15 consideration. But Gasol should be mentioned too, if Bynum is. Maybe you should add him to the poll.

I'm going with Deron, I think he's not just the best player left, I think he's CLEARLY the best player left.

And Nash should be added too, lol. Him vs Deron this year is actually a legit debate. What Nash has done with Phoenix is nothing short of incredible.

^^Yeah, I had the same thought process too.

Just thinking about the next best players, my first thoughts about Bynum were that he doesn't deserve to be there, but then I thought about what he's done this season, and he's had some monster performances. He's been consistently good and then has had some really good games.

At this point, I think Bynum has played more consistent and has been a greater force than Pau. That's why he's not there. Even Kobe admitted that Bynum has taken over the #2 slot from Pau early in the year.

The selection of players that are available are a mix of guys that I really think should be considered for the slot and guys whose names are bigger than their true value and yet people would still rate them extremely high.

Don't worry Nash will appear soon, I just don't think he's a top 10 player anymore and he's not as popular as he was before. Someone like Griffin may not be top 10 but he gets a lot of fanfare and I'm sure that there are plenty of people who truly believe Griffin's a top 10 player, despite what others may think.

Josh Smith's name should start appearing in the poll. He's a top 15-20 player IMO.

Rough list for me regarding the remaining players, not set in stone at all:

1. Deron
2. Nash
3. Westbrook
4. Rose
5. Harden
6. KG
7. Love
8. Gasol
9. Bosh
10. LMA
11. Bynum
12. Pierce
13. Smith
14. Melo
15. Griffin
16. Parker
17. Rondo

That puts me at 24, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some players.

Love doesn't impress me all that much, as a big man, being a crap defender is a seriously big flaw, and it's why I'm personally debating whether or not he really should go over all the big men I have after him.

My list seems to have a trend of PG>PF>SF...that's not what I tried to do, but I think the PGs that are left are all pretty close and are better than anyone else, ditto with the PFs.

I think KG and Pierce are getting really underrated because of their age. They're still really, really good. KG should probably be DPOY. He hasn't played this well since 08.

Still waiting for a legit explanation as to why Rose is a better player than Deron.

If we're going by MVP's then Nash has had a better career than Kobe, Wade and Shaq. Got it.

I always find it funny how fans use awards, like the MVP, to "backup" player X. There's the obvious "what does MVP even mean?" discussion, rightfully so. But the one that doesn't get talked about enough, or at all really, is who is determining the MVP and why?

However, since the 1980–81 season, the award is decided by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, each of whom casts a vote for first to fifth place selections

So, sportswriters and broadcasters are determining who the MVP is...really? What makes writers more credible than say...Clipper Darrell? Congratulations, MVP winner, you fit into the most narratives for these fabulous writers to write about.

On another note, I don't know who I'm voting for. Between Deron and Love, IMO.

I don't think Love is better then LMA or maybe even Pau at this stage just yet.

His defense is borderline awful and as efficient as he is on a huge volume with no one to really take pressure off him he still just doesn't seem like a true first option to me and when all you really do is score and rebound, you better be a deadly first option to be ranked in the top 10.

LMA is definitely a run set play, or give him the ball in the post and let him go to work type of a first option and his defense has become flat out elite.

Pau is the same. The soft label he gets, which is only a smidgen deserved seems to automatically discredit him as a poor defender when he's actually a very good one.

Bosh/Gasol/LMA are all incredibly close for me. I think Bosh gets hated on a lot, and he's not really able to show how good he is on the Heat, because he's stuck playing 3rd wheel and he's basically been relegated to being a spot-up shooter. I think he's a good defender, which he doesn't get credit for.

But I'd take KG over all of them. His impact is insane, I was leaning towards him before, but now I'm sure of it...he's DPOY. Offensively, he's looked as good as he ever has since 08. He's actually healthy and playing games too, and he's still playing 31+ mpg. He can't carry a team like he used to, but I don't think Bosh/Gasol/LMA can do it all that successfully either.

:D. Thank you for mentioning his defense, sorry for interrupting your thread, but so many people act like LMA is just a barely average defender and it is very upsetting. I think they just look at BPG.

Aldridge isn't the most cerebral defender out there but his length helps him to disrupt shots just by being around the basket.

IDK about that.

I mean I'm not saying he's some defensive brainiac guru, but he's pretty smart.

Good man defender and good helpside, one of the best in the league on pick and roll switches as well.
