No elbow is deadlier than a shot to the head.....

Bynum nearly killed Wallace.

Min 2 games. Anywhere from 3-5 I think will do.

Exactly!

Why was Harden even pushing INTO him? You don't do that when the other player is showing off his ego and being pumped up.

Like I said, Harden could have planned all this.

Watch the game.
I just watched the DVR over and over.

Harden was going towards the end line for the inbound pass.
He was NOT messing with MWP.

The new GTFO gif.

By the way, I think Artest had it in his head that he would do that and pretend it was just a part of his celebration. I can see the thought forming in his mind. Pretty clever. But yea....didn't fool as many people as he intended

At first he was pounding his chest, and he clearly wasn't looking at Harden, but after Harden bumped him, he swung with force and intentionality at him. Might not have been aiming at his head (though it seems like it), but he was definitely trying to elbow him.

Nice roll on the floor by Harden too, but that couldn't have been unintentional. I first thought it was possible because he was chest pounding, but look at his right arm, after the pound, it doesn't extend that way, while his left arm does.

How many games did Shaq get suspended for this?

Looks very similar

You must be straight blind if you find this to be in any way similar.

are you serious?

Do you see the shot Shaq gave AK47 in the head right after the dunk?

Don't see how anyone could defend this. Based on what we know about concussions/head injuries today that is about as dirty a foul as you can make. When you consider his actions in the past, I think he should be suspended for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.

He definitely felt Harden contact him before landing the elbow, I doubt he meant it to be that malicious, but he knew he was making contact on that swing.

It's kind of like when a defender grabs a rebound and flails his elbows around when people are surrounding him to create personal space.

I don't understand. This is Ron Artest. It is nice give people of the benefit of the doubt and all, but he has history. He is not a first time offender. The rebound arguement is great and all, but does not apply. He feels the guy ...knows where his shoulders are now (you don't need look at the guy that is silliness)...knows where his head it at now...doesn't think about what he is going to do (Ron Artest has mental problems it is a fact)...windups and hit hims exactly where he planned to hit him, the head. This is what happened.

MWP is just insane, doesn't know what he's doing half the time. But my god he definitely deserves a hefty suspension/fine

It's probably a good idea to have a 6-7 260 pound insane man who can't control his emotions running around throwing elbows. Especially for the other 29 NBA owners who have millions and millions of dollars invested in keeping their players healthy.

He didn't even pound his chest the second time, he just powered up and swung at him, definitely intentional

You just described like all but a handful of players in the NBA.

Bush league play by Artest. He's going to be gone for a long time.

A) Yes, the elbow was definitely intentional. MWP should get a suspension for throwing it.
B) No, I don't think he threw it especially maliciously - he was clearly celebrating and I think he threw it because Harden was all up in his space. It was more of a "GTFO of my space" elbow, similar to when big men get crowded by guards.
C) He probably threw it harder than he intended due to how pumped he was.

5 game suspension seems about right.

So when people get under your skin that gives you the right to elbow them in the side of the face/head/neck area? Pull up your skirt and grow some thicker skin.

Shaq dunked and his natural motion of arm coming back down happened to hit him. He did not wind his arm back all the way and follow through with full force AFTER coming in contact with him and knowing he was there.
