How would you have any idea how hard the hit was? Maybe you did have a concussion, if you're not careful with those they could cause permanent brain damage.

That was INCREDIBLY dangerous, and I'm not a Lakers fan at all, and don't really buy that it was accidental...but does anyone remember the Vince Carter "Olympic Dunk" where he almost took Kevin Garnett's head off with his celebration?

Could Artest's explanation possibly be legitimate, maybe?

You're comparing an isolated incident in Detroit with a pattern and history of unruly behavior. The fact is, eventually, the NBA could just say "we're done with this." No one is saying this is worse than the brawl, but Stern has to have Artest on very thin ice.

Yeah, it's a fair argument, but this is pretty rare territory, and this was still on court. As disgusting as this was, it doesn't begin to compare to what happened in Detroit.

Depends how severe Harden's concussion is, minimum 10 games,if harden misses anytime in the playoffs due to this concussion i say 25 games min.

Very much so...It's not like Mike Brown could have hit "rewind" on his real life remote control. He might have been looking down court to see if his guys were set for defense.

Yeah, I really question how many people here have any sense what it's like to take a hit from someone that size. Perhaps part of the issue is that Artest isn't large by NBA standards. In real life, people've probably never seen anyone of his strength take a full wind up and hit somebody in a sucker punch. You know that big crazy bro at the bar you don't want mess with? Artest is a heck of a lot bigger than him.

I realize Harden's relatively big too, but I question how much that helps in a situation like this.

For everyone who thinks I is an accident just watch it again. With Arttest first arm(rigth) he bangs it on his chest and brings it down to his side. With his left arm he brings it up above his shoulder and swings it with follow through right into Hardens skull.

It was in absolutely no accident

show me a dead ball elbow to the skull like that in the old NBA. I searched and couldn't find anything myself.

My real question is why do people say it as if it is supposed to be a good thing? If I wanted to watch people fight, there's boxing and UFC on TV. I tune in to the NBA to watch basketball, not guys trying out their latest fighting move.

or paul piercen punching the ref in the finals
but no, he knew he was there and purposely raised his elbow level imo....he'll claim ignorance and that he didn't know but it was 100% intentional imo

Hard to believe they didn't replay in on screens he could see. I do believe though that he was looking elsewhere - that's part of the whole point: The play was over. This is not a point in play where violence is considered to be a threat to happen unless it's from the guy who just got burned.

Artest just went into There Will Be Blood territory.

I don't want to hear anyone marginalizing this, and that it was in the moment.

I refrained from posting until after the game, but fact is that there is no way to sugarcoat it. It was a dirty thing to do.

If this was done to Gasol or Bynum by Perkins there would be hell from Laker fans...

The funniest thing was watching Artest beat himself on the chest to the ref to demonstrate what he was "trying" to do.

Well, ended up working out. Metta took out James Harden and The Lakers won.
