No way did he throw the elbow to clear space, he was definitely seeking some contact. FWIW I think Artest was looking to send Harden a message by giving him a nice elbow to the arm or shoulder, I just don't think he intended to clock him in the head and then do so as hard as he did.

I just watched the replay again..... Oooo.. My celebration of the dunk really was too much... Didn't even see James ..... Omg... Looks bad

'Celebration'. What a crock of ****. Is this guy trolling or can he possibly be so clueless? Didn't see the guy who bumped into you and who you then proceeded to take a swing at? Damage control...

I knew he wasn't going to admit that he hit Harden on purpose, but he should really just STFU. At this point, we have all seen the slo-mo replays and only those that are either blind or stupid will believe he didn't swing his elbow on purpose.

It never ceases to amaze me how these guys don't think before posting. Dumb. You'd think the team would instruct for him to sit tight (maybe they did?).

It's RonRon / MWP. He certainly is clueless. I doubt his ability to have a normal thought process. And that's exactly why he is a liability.

Who stepped on who's chest? We're talking about Love stepping on his face not his chest :-?

Give me a break he CLEARLY steps on his chest. If a 240 lb person steps on your face, you aren't playing anymore.

He sounds like an 8 year old.

He sounds like someone afraid of the punishment and trying too hard to smooth it over.

Really dont see how what Love did was worse. Harden has a concussion as a result of it, and thats gonna weigh largely into the severity of the punishment. That along with Artests past. Anything who thinks hell get just a 2 game suspension is gonna be disappointed when Stern comes out with the punishment

This is what I mean by "clear space". I mean the "get out of my space" hit.

The lifetime ban is because he cannot think straight. He was never able to do this. He was never able to contain himself when angry or pumped up. Simply put, he's a liability. He always was one. That incident only proved that he is still the same.

He should change his name to Metta World War for the sake of what he did. Absolutely ugly and disgraceful

Can't see how the NBA will go in on the reigning J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award recipient.

You are obviously blind. You said steps on his face. You see when Love puts his foot down, where is it? Right, his chest. Scola's face gets hit, but he stepped on his chest. Which was completely overblown anyway.

He really thinks that anybody who sees that motion can think its unintentional?

Just apologize, stfu, and take the suspension.

Also...watch the replay. He looks down the court after he dunks it. Even though he turns his head after, he has clearly seen that Harden is in his path. But most importantly, for any doubters, they make contact before the elbow. Harden's hand touches Artest's shoulder when he bumps into him. Its clearly a reactionary "Get the F out of my way while I'm celebrating" elbow. Not a "oops..I was elbowing the air and he accidentally got in my path" sort of thing.

He steps on his face, then the foot follows through to his chest. How is it that hard to understand? No one said he stomped his face out, just that he stepped on it.
