Try knowing what happens inside the head of a person that clearly is not in his right mind is imposible. I have expirience treating with them and you can never be 100% sure how they will react. Even when they are frineds with you.

That said, I believe the NBA should not let this player play again in the L.

How can Harden play against a guy like this, say, four weeks down the road, in the POs? Will he be able to just play, or will he be thinking about how bad he could have been?

"That was a shot right around the temple area and was definitely intentional and malicious

That kind of hit can cause serious damage and even kill someone if an artery there ruptures from the impact"

give me a break he didnt even look where harden was when he elbowed him how could he be aiming for his temple

Harden is one of the most effective and electric players in the league. I wish people wanted to punch all of the Raptors in the face if thats the case.

What a flop by Harden. He should be playing for the Clippers.

Who cares what Harden did, or how he plays the game??? You could have the most annoying POS in the world constantly bugging you all day...that doesn't mean it's ok for you to take a baseball bat to his head.

Artest is not the only person Harden has pissed off before...Artest is the only person to lay him out with an elbow. Artest is also the guy that ran into the stands, falsely accused a fan of throwing beer at him, while beating the crap out of him. Excuse me if I'm not sympathetic to Artest for being possibly annoyed with Harden running up to him.

It was mentioned before in this thread, but the people asking why Harden approached Artest when he knows Artest is crazy should use that same argument the next time a girl gets molested and ask why the girl dared to wear skimpy clothes when she knows that it will just get guys thinking about sex. Because that's totally the question we should be asking...

I've seen various commentary by the analysts on ESPN.com and they are all talking about a 1, 2, or 3 game suspension for Artest. If the NHL can suspend Raffi Torres for 25 games, then the NBA should suspend Artest for at least that much. What Artest did was way worse than what Torres did.

I cant wait till the likely Laker/Thunder matchup. I still see Thunder taking them out but Harden will be out for blood against a gritty Lakers team.

It's different because it's Artest. Bynum is a sore loser and an ass. He will make a dirty play when he loses. But at least he will think.

RonRon is not an ass. He is just not sane enough to play in the league.

Well, if some LA fans keep excusing the inexcusable, pretending it was unintentional, this thread is gonna have part II and III.
The only thing pissing me off is every time something happens with the Lakers, fans of other teams act like it's the most vile thing to ever happen. I grew up watching the NBA from the late 70's on to now, and today what happen doesn't come close to the things I saw as a kid.

But at the same time there have been several Laker fans not praising what Metta did, and it's no reason to say he didn't intend to do it or he did intend to do it, because no one here is qualified enough to psycho analyze Metta. We don't know what the hell he was thinking coming out of that bucket he scored. The only thing we know is that he was fired up as hell, guys here killing Metta but why the f**k did Harden even put himself in front of a man known to explode ?

See no one can answer this, all I keep seeing is...." he was getting ready for the inbound pass", that bull sh*t. Because not one Thunder player was even standing out of bounds yet, so that's just some asinine thinking. But this thread has been over blown and it's never going to be a balance to agree on what played out.

They were 5 feet away after Artest finished the dunk. Harden took a step at most in Artests direction. Whatever minor play Harden made to get under the oppoenents skin, it in no way shape or form deserved that backlash.

Artest knew Harden was directly in front of him, even before he started his crazy celebration.

Wow over-reaction much. You'd think MWP would have stomped on the guys face given the reactions here...oh wait, that already happened this season. With no were near as much hate on the player involved.

People here seem to think he should be suspended for the rest of the season. Lakers fans seem to think something around Bynum's suspension, for his hit on JJ. As with all things, I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. A suspension of around 10 games would be sufficient for me, mainly for his prior history.

I said that in the minutes after the game, not sure how you trying to come at me. I wasn't taking a jab at James...dude like I said earlier today I know the dude, played pick up ball with his brother at my gym several times. Up until that point Metta was playing well, one of the few guys that had it going from the beginning. It took awhile for the rest of the team to catch up.

It was a pretty vicious elbow.
At least 5 games and a fine....10 seems more appropriate though.

When can we expect the ruling by the league?

Where's my boy kblo247? This just murders his argument that Harden "came from no where to get in MWP's face" haha.
