The problem right now is that leagues from sports with far more physical brutal contact like NHL and NFL are starting to get heat from the media types realizing the long term effects of such violence causing head trauma on players. This could lead to the NBA having enough backing to make an example out of Artest which is the right thing to do. This kind of behaviour has no place on the court. Artest screwed up big right here and its going to cost him considering his extended history of violent behaviour.

good point. concussions are the talk of sports nowdays...this could weigh in heavily when Stern makes a decision on Ron.

NBA reasons homey and Lakers winning championship got nothing to do with the league like or dislike of LA.

He should get 5 games. There is no place in the game for that, intentional or not. I don't think it was premeditated. I do think he meant to swing his elbow without thinking of where he might hit him or what the consequences might be.

Larry Sanders got a 2 game suspension for his part in a meaningless scuffle. Artest deserves a mucher longer suspension than that before even taking his past action into consideration.

I love the Harden was asking for it responses. The Thunder were trying to inbound the ball. Artest is running around like a crazy person but somehow it is Harden's fault.

Im fairly certain 5 championships and 6 conference titles since 2000 are greater than Stern rejecting that meh offer from Lakers.

you see a crazy person celebrating with elbows out and you run into him, why? Its like seeing a drunk driver headed towards you, you could make a turn onto another street and avoid it but instead drive directly at him. Harden did NOT deserve it but he could've avoided as well, the ball was not going to be inbounded to him dont use that rational, he did the same thing with Chandler last year and lucked out that Chandler elbow didn't connect.

I don't think Harden will be jumping in front of Peace anymore when celebrating.

If a elbow lands to the head its a foul regardless of it's intention, no one is saying that Metta isn't to blame here.

However just as Metta's king kong celebration wasn't a natural basketball act(not many celebrations are), neither was Harden running up to bump Metta mid celebration on a inbound pass play.

The only explanation for Harden running up on Metta at that point was to try and flop to draw a cheap foul like he did against Dallas last year with Chanlder. Unfortunately for him he bit off more than he could chew trying to draw a foul against World Peace.

Thats great, I guess because Artest is a known crazy person no one is allowed to make contact with him. Can we go ahead and make that a rule, no touching Artest because no one knows what he will do.

Artest only had his elbows out once in that celebration...
