Put closgoo on suicide watch: Ernie gets extended

I have never seen someone save his ass on so many occasions more than Ernest P. Grunfeld. He is truly a man with 9 lives.

Figures, he hasn't fired George McPhee.

Meh. 2 yr extension. Short leash, basically it's one year and a possible lame duck year again on the hot seat.

The emergence of Kev Seraphin saved his bacon since we got him for free from the Hinrich trade. Draft pick manufactured from pure shenanigans.

The post-Nene trade chemistry and Vesely's new found production alone wouldn't have bought him the time. But the revelation of Kev Seraphin makes him look prescient.

I've always been an Ernie supporter, but at the same time, I was really looking forward to a change in the front office. He's made plenty of solid moves, and plenty of bleh moves. I understand why he made every move that he did, and I never had a huge problem with any of them. But he hasn't really made any home run moves (maybe Nene turns out to be that move?). I just feel like by keeping him we're still stuck in the old **** losing Wizards era. But whatever, I trust Ted. Hope this doesn't mean we keep Witt.

Would have been perfectly fine with this if he had realized you can't teach stupid before the Blatche extension and shipped Nick and Javale earlier.

He has an eye for talent, but until this past year or so he hasn't held maturity in high enough regard. I guess Ted is just letting him see this process through. Gotta hope we get an impact player in the draft and manage to be .500 next year or this extension will look silly.

Kind of smelled this coming both from the D'Antoni rumors and from how Chad Ford and others already got a bead on our upcoming draft board- these are only things you know if you already know who the GM is going forward.

As bad as things have been this year, you gotta give Grunfeld some credit on Seraphin and on getting Nene for JaVale and Nick Young- that move has completely turned this team around.

I can only presume that he is very good at schmoozing his bosses. What really bothers me is that he will be likely selecting or at least strongly influencing the next head coach as well as handling the draft and free agency. Oh well, we shouldn't have expected much different as Bullets fans.

I'm not upset as I thought I'd be. Maybe our decent play over the last 2 weeks has softened my anti EG stance. Oh well.

At least he drafts well (mostly.)

Singelton is a disaster but vesely showed really big improvement and is now one of the better picks in the draft.

If we get a Davis...we win 50 next year

What can I say, I had hope that with a house-cleaning the Wizards might not continue to be an NBA laughing-stock.

Same:
*Medical team
* Head of Player Development
*Losing GM who had been fired more-quickly by other NBA teams

Ted Leonsis took-over ownership and has made zero organizational changes.

Not surprised. Next announcement is D'Antoni.

Ves, Book, Sera were all good picks. Blatche (for his position), McGee, and Young weren't bad either. Singleton was a gamble at 18, though most thought he'd be better.

Where EG has epic-failed is in resigning players.

Let's just win the #1 pick so this won't really matter!
