Draft night deal

Say we landed anywhere from 3-6 And MKG is off the board and so is Robinson and Davis, would you get Portland on the phone and see if you can make a deal to trade for their two picks which right now sit at 7 and 11 and take a proven floor general in Marshall and a defensive prescense thats less then a gamble then Drummond in John Henson? Blazers get their long term replacement for brandon Roy in Bradley beal and we draft two leaders who will come in and make an immediate impact in their own separate ways but in areas we need help in.

1) Marshall may be a floor general but he's very plodding--which makes him really poor both defensively and in terms of being able to create something from nothing. Running a pick and roll? Great. Playing the Jose Calderon role of setting up the offense? Fine. However, when all's said and done he really projects to be a backup caliber player because of his major deficiencies.
2) Not a fan of Henson either. Big men drafted for their defensive prowess (especially in that range) turn out to be busts 99% of the time.

Further, the last thing the Kings need to do is dilute talent. The Kings are, right now, a team with a bunch of backup caliber guys being forced to play as starters. Thomas? Backup. Thornton? Backup. Thompson? Backup unless he's playing next to Tim Duncan. Getting 2 more [probable] backup caliber guys just continues to cement us as a bad team.

Further, the last thing the Kings need to do is dilute talent. The Kings are, right now, a team with a bunch of backup caliber guys being forced to play as starters. Thomas? Backup. Thornton? Backup. Thompson? Backup unless he's playing next to Tim Duncan. Getting 2 more [probable] backup caliber guys just continues to cement us as a bad team.

Agreed with the pick analysis but I believe that Thomas and Thornton are starter quality players. I think either could start on some playoff teams. JT might be a rotational big and best off the bench but I think the Kings need to just come up with a gameplan and build around that. If DMC is going to be your horse, then build around his strengths and get players to fit around his skillset, if Evans is then go that route. If we could deal Beal and get two lottery picks from it then I say go for it if Beal or whoever available isnt your guy. I just hope we get guys who fit with our superstar and not keep trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

I'd consider a couple things:
1) I'd highly consider drafting Drummond at this point. Yes he's a project, he showed some big red flags in college (motor wasn't great, FT shooting was some of the worst ever), but he also played on what seems to be a poorly put together team (a group of chucking guards with no ability to run an offense) and he showed signs of defensive potential last year (along with offensive potential as a high schooler). Plus he's big and very athletic (which would fit nicely next to Cousins).
2) I'd consider drafting Sullinger. People give him crap, but he's been a VERY good talent for 2 years, has leadership qualities, and absolutely busts his ass to get better. That's the kind of guy I'd love for this team.
3) I'd consider taking Beal or Lamb. Granted, taking either necessitates some kind of trade for the Kings (as both are primarily 2s), but both project to be damn good NBA players with good shots.
4) There's a chance I'd trade the pick for veteran help but I'm still not sure if this team knows what it needs (outside of a big next to Cousins).

I want to believe in Drummond and his abilitys but I just feel as if we need to draft a guaranteed diference maker because if our team doesn't improve next year, heads will roll. A guy like MKG would be amazing but given the kings "luck" in the lotterys it seems as if it's a long shot.

Drummond looked terrible when I watched him. Maybe team, maybe situation but he looked horrible. I'd hate to give a guy with no motor a big contract.

I watched Sullinger a few times and he never seemed that good and then at the end of the game he was like 19 - 10 with good shooting numbers. He could be Al Jefferson like in the right system and team.

The guy we need is Ibaka. If we can steal him from OKC, he would be perfect fit next to DMC. I know he's not in the draft but that's what we need.
