Which writer is your go to for Heat coverage?

(Disclaimer: for the sake of this thread, I will disregard the slight differences between beat writers and columnists, and just refer to them all interchangeably.)

Ethan Skolnick is great because he's capable of being so ornery, which in turn makes him so relatable. He openly bemoans fans who constantly ask why James Jones doesn't play more minutes, or if Eddy Curry is about to turn a corner, or if Spoelstra's job is on the line -- they're all tired, uninspired questions and Skolnick doesn't pretend otherwise.

Linda Robertson needs to cover the Heat more often simply because more women should be covering sports, period.

Tim Reynolds is the funniest person associated with the Heat on any level, in any capacity.

Michael Wallace comes across better in interviews than he does in print.

No one knows more about Heat history than Ira Winderman. His anecdotes are better than anyone's. And that's why it's such a shame that, despite being a quality newsman, he has to be such an uncool dweeb.

Dan LeBatard doesn't do much heavy news-gathering anymore nor does he spend much time in the trenches (and understandably so, he's busy), but he's still the best when it comes to finding the human element in a story. He doesn't report; he reflects. His pieces often make you forget that you're reading about sports at all, and that's a good thing.

Neither Greg Cote or Dave Hyde devote their time to the Heat exclusively. But when they do, they're terrific. Cote especially.

Windhorst is a Cavs fan.

He's a Lebron fan. He's followed him around since High School. Plus he does a good journalistic job and doesn't fill his articles with a bunch of crappy opinions. Mostly sticks to just reporting what has been said. I think he's the best basketball journalist out there in terms of actually doing the job like a journalist and not some gossip columnist.

Ira is a worry-wort and his BBIQ seems low. Some of his ideas for roster or gameplan changes are terrible.

Windhorst is a Cavs fan. I'm convinced now. The guy is just too pessimistic about the team for my tastes.

Skolnick is the most in-touch with the team and its goings-on. I love his reports on the state of the team, and I really liked when he was on the Sedano Show so frequently.

Side note: I'm pissed they let Sedano go and replaced him with Knicks-fan and **** Guzio. 790theTicket is starting to suck hard lately.

Haberstroh is the best stats and Xs/Os guy that covers the team. PEACE.

I'm wondering, has 790 the Ticket made any formal announcements regarding their morning show? I haven't been able to tune in much since Sedano left so I may have missed it, but I'd be surprised if they'd permanently give the prime real estate of 6:00 am - 10:00 am to Guzio. And I think Guzio is an OK on-air personality, just not good enough to carry his own show. I know Alex Donno was hosting the other day...I could definitely live with that, at least for the time being.

And Jason Jackson strikes me as a genuinely nice guy, but his mid-afternoon show is pretty bad. I guess I can appreciate him trying to give air time to the Marlins and other under-discussed topics, but he's just really exhausting to listen to...too convoluted and too verbose, with strained analogies that never really resonate the way he would like or the way he'd want them to.

I'll admit I like Jax when he's talking Heat. But yeah, he's as much fluff as Lebatard, without the funny. The Lebatard Show and Jax Show are all I listen to now. I hope Sedano is replaced by someone good. I could actually go for Zaslow taking that morning slot and let Guzio handle the pre and post-game shows.

I have started to hate Guzio since Sedano started taking a lot of days and Guzio and Andy step in and start trashing Lebron and criticizing the team. I'm fine with his antics when he's talking about the Dolphins because...well...we all criticize the Phins. But it really gets on my nerves that he likes to rip the best team in town and the best player on that team. He never gets on Wade.

Anyway, yeah, it's not a good idea having the morning show anchored by a Knicks fan. I've left the radio off the last few days. I wonder if the shake-up in the shows lately has anything to do with Hoch getting fired from station manager. PEACE.

I agree 100% with that statement. Sedano and Guzio balanced each other perfectly. Guzio seems to rant too much when he is solo. Always negative and ranting about the same stuff. Then he tries to stir the pot with baseless arguments to get the low sports-IQ callers to call the show and discuss.... baseless crap.

790 is going to have a hard time bringing in a personality to compete with Joe Rose (karma?) in the morning. I just hope they don't give another shot to Sid. I have been 100% Joe Rose since Sedano left. They need to make a splash at that time slot.

790 has had Donno co-hosting with Guzio and Andy in the mornings some, and I think it works. Guzio is Mr. Knicks and Andy is Mr. Thunder, so Donno is bringing some rational, local flavor to the mix. I only know him from Fighter's Fury though, which I like.

As for Hoch, he's on the LeBatard Show, and even added his name to the show's title, but he's no longer station manager or whatever job he held before. He's just an on-air personality now AFAIK. He does compliment Dan and Stugotz very well, interjecting when the two of them are ready to go at each other. I find him to be funny, but I assume they're making management changes at 790 that will have an effect on the host lineup. I'm kinda disappointed since I used to listen to that station all day, but I guess I gotta give the Joe Rose show a chance in the mornings. PEACE.

Hochman used to serve as the station's program director in addition to executive producer of The LeBatard Show. Last month the station brought in a new program director.

Hoch's still executive producer of the show and has maintained the same heavy on-air presence he's always had alongside LeBatard and Stugotz. Only difference now is his name's in the title.

everyone else I follow to get multiple takes on each development but if I had to choose only 2 to follow those would be the guys.

and 790's wholesale changes are puzzling, Sedano was great in the AM and unless they add someone to the mix soon asdie from Donno, Guzio etc that show is getting flat, robotic, stail and sometimes not even relevant to So Florida sports.
