What should the Lakers to now after losing Metta World War

Post#342 » by Waynelophoto » Wed Apr 25, 2012 12:05 pm

Last games against the Kings - 1 game
Should the Lakers aim for 6 games on the first round for Metta to come back on game 1, second round?

Ebanks and Barnes needs to step up to their A game, and we'll see the Thunders in the second round.

Ebanks is coming off some good play the last few weeks so i say we ride that wave considering we wouldnt really need that barnes/MWP presence as much in the first round. They can rest up...by choice and some not by choice( MWP) smh.

we'll be fine round 1 and vs the Queens.

This is why people don't like Laker fans :D

bro...This is coming from me..The way you shut somebody up for talking trash is to score on them. You can never lose control of your emotions and you should never let another man get you so mad that want to cause injury to him, because when you do, they won....I had to learn this the hard way bro..I'm 30 so I think a little different when I was younger. Ron is 32 years old with kids. Now he hurt his team and I'm sure that his kids is hearing about it at school. So what James Harden talks trash. It's part of the game. Jordan, Bird and Kobe are known for talking trash on the court.

Are Lakers fans still thinking that the elbow was unintentional?

Who celebrates their play with an elbow directly at someones head/neck area?

you are talking in too general terms. was the elbow itself intentional? yes it was. was Ron's intention to hit Harden in the face? debatable. you can take the blind stance and say yes Ron saw Harden with the eye in the back of his neck and aim right at his face or you could say that he felt a body on his back trying to interrupt his happy dance and reacted with a thoughtless reflex of "get the effe out my way" elbow that unfortunately connected to Harden's face.

Plus he went over to the ref right away apologizing profusely and made sure he was okay. If Metta had turned around as soon as he felt contact with Harden's face, and went over to check on him (instead of keeping on celebrating and pretending like nothing happened), it would have looked much better and the punishment would have been much less.

DuB I agree. Im ten years older than you and Ive been to hell and back in my life. Believe me. I have yurned the other cheek soooo many times, but as I aged and learned sometimes instead of turning the other cheek you need to put your foot in the right place.
What Ron did was wrong but Harden is a instigator and he has a bad habit of egging people on and we know he's a flopper. He intetnion was to disruot Ron and get under his skin. He probably thought Ron was going to push him or shove him with a elbow and get Ron a Tech or worst case ejected for starting a fight.X Little did he know he was going to get a elbow in his dome. My theory is when you know somebody is crazy then why **** with him unless your willing to suffer the consequences.

Hardin did just that. Artest is no angel we all now that, but to place all the blame on Ron as if Harden was just an innocent by stander lollllll.....

Harden wasn't even behind Artest.

He came up right beside him at worst and touched Ron before the elbow wound up.

The fact that Artest WOUND up and displaced his elbow at a 90 degree angle aimed over Harden's shoulder and directly at the guy's head indicates it was indeed intentional and borderline sociopathic.

There is absolutely no way Artest didn't not know he was there or what he was doing.

Look carefully at the replay.

1. Artest throws down a monster dunk.
2. Looks into the crowd TO HIS RIGHT and pound his chest with his right hand.
3. Harden, inexplicably moves right up to Artest's left and makes body contact
4. Still looking at the crowd to HIS RIGHT, Artest feels the Harden's bump to HIS LEFT and blindly swings his LEFT elbow behind him, not averting his gaze nor breaking stride
5. Artest continues to run and yell, still looking at the crowd to HIS RIGHT

And remember all of this happens within seconds.

Artest's behavior argues more that he DIDN'T intend to hit Harden in the head based on the fact that he DIDN'T turn around. If he turned around and looked down at Harden, that could be interpreted as acknowledgement of his intention (e.g., aiming, mentally following through, checking damage). But Artest looked oblivious.

Which was his immediate explanation to the referee: I was celebrating and I swung my elbow behind me.

There was no malice.

But there were many factors that made this possible. Artest dunked on two Thunder players. Not Metta World Peace. This was Ron Artest. In his own words, "I ain't dunked like that really in the last 3 years. Usually people contest my shot and they can block my shot." Thus, he became emotional, "I was just way hyped up...do push-ups, jump up + down, do muscles, flex for the crowd." He became emotional and pounded his chest - WHICH RAISED HIS ELBOWS. Harden made the decision to make body contact with the blind side of a celebrating Ron Artest. Artest, elbows already high, still celebrating, BLINDLY swung behind him, to get the opponent's body off him and create momentum to get up the court.

Artest's own words, in his podcast today: "I didn't expect to get 7 games. I also didn't expect James Harden to be right behind me."

Even Stern today qualified his previous statement, when asked if Artest's elbow was intentional: "I believe that it was recklessly thrown."

But it was more political than anything, I mean, Vegas was already calling it 7.5 games, you know the Thunder were pushing for a big suspension (along with other LA playoff rivals), and some guys in the media were calling for criminal charges against Artest.

It was reckless, but it wasn't malicious. 7 games is tough, especially considering how well Artest is playing. It could determine a playoff series - maybe two if Artest comes back without the shooting rhythm that eluded him all season.

I feel bad for Ron...he's going to face double standards for the rest of his life. He's always been a guileless person, child-like. But when you are flawed and naive in a flawed but jaded world, you will get kicked in the teeth, over and over. Painful to watch a man try to figure out who he is at the cost of what people want from him.

You can't get Ron Artest's game without Ron Artest. People have all sorts of reasons for their competitive fire, integral to identity.

But Ron's love for the game is pure, and I hope his teammates and family and inner circle keep his head right. Because his heart will always be good.

He can see Harden with his peripheral vision he isn't completely turned around and when you feel someone next to you don't throw an elbow.

It's quite apparent that it was intentional and he is just playing dumb.
